So starting round 2 of self funded ICSI IVF treatment and we have our planning appointment Tomo, one question I wondered is does everyone have 2 day Embroyos put back in or do some have 3 day?? If so can I ask for 3 day? I've been reading up and it looks like they have more of a chance ?
Hi there, I've just had a 5 day Embie transfered. Which from what I understood was the preferred length of time. But every embrio is different and your clinic will transfer when they believe is the best point in there development. Good luck for today! Xx
Hi KathrynKernow - as with everything to do with IVF/infertility, there isn't a correct answer and one woman will get pregnant with a 2 day transfer (as I did), another will get pregnant with a 3 day or 5 day transfer etc. As Becky 179 says, the embryologist and clinic will advise you what is the best transfer time for your embryos. There was an interesting article in my magazine (issue 3) and the expert said the following: "In a natural conception, it will take 6-12 days from ovulation for the embryo to implant into the lining of the uterus. The early embryo will travel through the fallopian tube, where it has been fertilized, and arrive in the uterus around Day 5. For this reason, it has been suggested that placing a Day 3 IVF embryo into the uterus may be sub-optimal. Having said this, numerous pregnancies have resulted from Day 3 embryo transfers. In fact, this has been the preferred stage of transfer in many countries for many years." Be guided by the expertise and knowledge of your clinic as they will know what is happening with your embryos. Good luck with the transfer xx
