FET update

Went for scan to check lining today, looking good and all set for transfer next week. In fact the nurse said it was "beautifully thick"  lol, not very often you hear that as a compliment.

We have 2 frosties. Need advice on whether to defrost 1 or both. Any thoughts?

Xx

Hi! Fantastic :-) I was lucky too and had several frosties following fresh cycle. Personally I would do one at a time; if they are good quality embryos (which they must be to have been ok to freeze) then this in theory gives you two chances. However, depending on your age and circumstances (and embryo quality) they may let you put both back. Our little girl has just turned 1 from a frozen cycle so I am a firm believer in good outcomes from frosties :-) Good luck xxx

Thank you for your reply and congrats on your success. I am just worried that if we take both out and they are both not viable then we will be devastated but the nurse today said it's the same outcome either way if we take one out or both. So a little unsure. Xx

Hi, and thanks! Ah - you've just reminded me of something I was told at the time too - we were told that with blasts, research shows that the outcome does not differ whether you put 1 or 2 back. Why do you think they both wont be viable? Are they blasts? xxx

No real reason to be concerned just because the last ET failed I'm just worried. Yes they are both blasts, a 2bb and a 3bb I think which is good. I just dont want to waste one if it doesn't work. Probably worrying for nothing, what will be, will be..xx

Ah ok. Of course you are worried; it is a stressful process and a difficult time. I'm not sure of the exact figures but I'm sure that the chances of a blast thawing successfully is 90 something percent. Ie - they are v strong little embryos and can survive the freeze/thaw process. Was your last ET from a fresh cycle? xxx

Yes last ET was fresh. Just had the call from the hospital so.....they are going to take one out on Friday morning and see how it goes, if it's not viable I agreed for them to take the second one out. So that settles that debate 😀 thank you so much for your reply. I appreciate it. Fingers crossed now Eeeeeeekkk!!!  Xx
