Finally . . . Embryo Transfer!

Hey Ladies,

Finally tomorrow is the day I will be having embryo transfer. Please share your experiences wether you girls had time off from work just after ET or is it okay to have rest? Xx

Hi, I had ET on a Wednesday and was supposed to be working from home the rest of the week but then I changed my mind and took the time off. I had 5 days of taking it easy, not doing a lot. They say you can resume normal activity but many women take the time off so that you feel you're giving yourself the best chance as you don't want to be stressed during this time. Do what feels right for you. The 5 days was enough for me, I needed to be distracted after that!

I have also taken 2 days off and 2 days will be working from home. Plus I get 2 days weekend so it should be fine then. Xx

I knew some people take the whole 2ww off but I would have gone crazy! I was quite glad to be back to work and kept busy. Working from home is ideal for a few days. Anyway the little embryo should implant within 1-3 days after transfer.

I know, getting back to work is the best thing to divert your mind I guess. Did you have blastocyst transfer? Xx

I did, I had 4 eggs collected, 3 were mature and all 3 fertilised and looking the same at day 3. So at day 5, only 2 were doing well and had both transferred - and both took! I'm expecting twins. 😬 First trimester is hard though, you still expect the worst to happen. Even now I question whether something could still happen but I am more relaxed now I've made it to the second trimester.

That's amazing congratulations

It's sooo lovely to hear positive news and outcomes. I have my first scan tomorrow and this is my first IVF run.

Thanks ladies! It was my first round too, so you never know, you could also be very lucky first time! Best of luck with it, injecting is weird at first but it just becomes routine after a few days. The amount of medication can be overwhelming too but just concentrate on one day at a time. You just have to constantly remind yourself why you are doing this and stay positive!

Hopfully me and my wife will get the ball rolling this month as we had been told to wait until end if the month as I had been s smoker ( but have stopped fur 6 months), upon advise, we've changed our diets, have taken fertility support supplements aswell as acupuncture.

Our fertility clinic have up to date medical records, tests, scans, etc so we should be out forward to our chosen clinic. Then it's awaiting game to get the first consultation ( can I ask how long did you gave to waitvfurvthat until consult andvwhatvwas discussed at that point) going through NHS ( my wife will be turning 39 in July).

I'm constantly reading this feed and gathering experiences from others who are in the process. Any advise would be appreciated

Hi Sanj76,

Waiting game can be a bit tricky. We had our first initial consultation appointment in October 2015 ( this is when we chose our clinic) and had to repeat all my and husbands blood tests. And finally we got here( tomorrow is our ET day, so all excited)

Forgot to say, clinic advised me to take it easy for 2-3 days. Zita West suggests taking things early for 4-5 days, so time off may not be a bad thing. I'd go with your gut instinct xx
