Hi everyone, my husband and I have our first IVF appointment on 23 Dec, I was just wondering what to expect, do they tell you what is gonna happen and tell you about your future appointments? When do you normally start the injections, is that a bit further down the line? Sorry for all the questions.
Excited and Nervous : Hi everyone, my... - Fertility Network UK
Excited and Nervous
We have ours on the 3rd Dec I will let you know. Have you had all the tests and got your paperwork? X
Hey Cornwall12,
Depending on what tests you have already had will depend on what happens. By the time I had my first appointment I'd already had all the testing at the doctors. The consultant reviewed the results and talked about the options. To be fair due to me being nearly 38 he said the best option was IVF rather than IUI or ICSI. He put me on thyroxine as my levels were a little high (slightly under active thyroid). From the first appointment it was round 3 weeks before I started injecting but it all depends on when your cycle happens. I started mine 21 days from my last period.
I have just finished my first cycle. The injecting, egg collection and transfer were all a breeze. What I wasn't prepared for was the 2ww. This is the hardest part after the anxiety of waiting to find out if the eggs fertilise.
Try and stay relaxed, it is really exciting and a relief to get started but can be quite tough mentally.
This forum is a godsend and I don't know what I'd have done without it.
Good luck with your treatment. Xxx
Totally agree with you about the 2ww
I have got to have a day 21 progesterone and rubella blood test before the appointment on 23 Dec. What paperwork? Xx
Hey Cornwall.
Consent forms, basically in a nutshell
If you have embryos left over will you use, donate to other people or science
If hubby dies ( god forbid) do you have permission to use any frozen ones
How many do you want to implant
Do you accept the multiple birth risk
Those were the main things we had to talk about and sign for. It's all very American movie
Try to stay calm
I had all the blood tests etc by doctor, then had internal scan and HSG etc hubby had sperm analysts. Then finally referred to our chosen clinic who have repeated most the tests. Now we go back on the 3rd to talk treatment. My clinic has sent a huge pack containing all the consent forms etc and we have to take it to our appointment on the 3rd Dec x
Scary movie stuff ask the consent forms make you think about things you had not even considered
One step at a time honey
I would cut out white sugar, caffeine and clearly if you smoke or drink- don't
Hi losinghopefast77, I don't smoke or drink, I don't drink much caffeine. Do you think they will give me the consent forms at the appointment or is this something they should send before I go? Xx
They explained them all to me then I took them home to read and sign with hubby.
Timing is impossible to control your body will do whatever it needs to do. Once you start they will take control of your cycle and then the fun begins.
Take each day as it comes.
Everyone has a different experience.
On my 2 tries they were totally different.
Deep breath and try not to worry ( impossible )
I think from reading other posts all clinics do things slightly different. At the moment I feel super chilled (I am sure this will change) and looking forward to our next appointment x
Good luck at your appointment and let me know how it goes. Xx
Thanks cornwall12 will do xxx
