Obviously full of heartache and disappointment that this round didn't work...
We've got a frozen blastocyst in the freezer from our first round...has anyone ever only had one and taken the risk of defrosting it on its own and had success?

Hi hollibob. My heart breaks for you both x x sending big hugs and positive vibes for your future tries x x truly am sorry x x
Thinking of you, life is so cruel xxxxx
sorry to hear your news xx
I'm having my frozen egg put in soon xx it's a chance you have to take xx good luck xx
Thank you.
Good luck to you too
How far along are you with the process?
X
I've just had a failed ivf cycle and now I'm waiting on having my frozen egg put back in xx very long process and causes so much heart ache xx it feels like starting g from square one because you have to have the scratch and injections and tablets again :/ xx
Aw Hollibob I'm so sorry to hear your news 💚 It's such a huge disappointment when treatment doesn't work. Same thing happened to me yesterday with my one & only frozen blasto (BFN) 😢 I've read on the forum about people who've had success with one wee frozen embie so there's always hope. Wishing you the best of luck with your next step on the not so delightful IVF journey 🌻 x x
Thank you noodles...sorry you are going through the heartache as well.
How did you find the process in comparison to fresh cycles?
X
The frozen cycle is so much easier than the fresh cycle. I used oestrogen patches (as opposed to oestrogen tablets) and I used the cyclogest pessaries twice a day. I felt a bit bloated after about 7 days and had a few dull headaches that would come & go but other than that I felt absolutely fine. If only all ivf cycles were that simple Hollibob 💚 x x
Im so sorry to hear this hollibob. It is so unfair! How we manage to keep our sanity on this journey amazes me as it is so damn tough on us!! It is great you have a frozen embryo for your next attempt. I wish you the best of luck. Take care of yourself and plan something nice over the next few days to perk yourself up xx
Thank you lou79.
How are you doing on your 2ww?
Our first round gave us more than we ever expected, a positive result and a frostie. Sadly we miscarried on that occasion.
X
You certainly have had a very difficult time! I cant imagine what it was like for you to have gone through that and now this too! Its so cruel I really do hope this next frozen cycle is a success for you!! My 2ww is almost over, it hasnt dragged as much as I thought it would and I have really enjoyed being off work!! I think the months leading up to this took so much out of me that the 2ww has given me some much needed me time. Good luck with everything hollibob be kind to yourself xx
Hi Hollibob. So sorry to hear this, but hang on to your little frostie! The freezing methods used now called vitrification have much greater thawing successes, as they don't create ice crystals which were always a problem. all I can say is to wish you the very best of luck with your frostie, and let'shope that it will be the one. Diane
Thanks Diane.
Have you got any thoughts/suggestions on any other blood tests we could speak to the GP about, taking into consideration...I've got endometriosis, a chemical pregnancy miscarriage whilst on clomid, a miscarriage during our first round and then this failed icsi cycle?
Hi Hollibob. So sorry to hear that you are still having a frustrating time of it at the moment in trying to find answers to your treatment failures. Sometimes consultants will recommend the use of soluble aspirin and/or Clexane (a heparin based blood thinner) when there have been repeated treatment failures/miscarriage. Usually, these are used if it is known that you have a clotting problem, but are occasionally used even if not present. Some clinics still offer it as part of a drug regime to “boost” your immune system. All clinics have their own set of criteria regarding having things like your immune system checked out, but are not considered a priority with NHS treatment. I am sure that your clinic should be able to offer it to you (at a cost). Unfortunately, all the immune problems including looking for natural killer cells have not altogether been proven to cause recurrent treatment failures or miscarriage, and this may be the reason they often don’t offer the test. However, if they were found, then you would probably be offered a treatment involving intra venous drugs such as immuno-globulin and also dexamethasone and prednisolone (forms of steroids). The side effects of their use, you would need to get thoroughly explained to you. I have heard increasing successes with couples who have had repeated failures undergoing treatment following a positive diagnosis to the natural killer cells and have gone on to have ongoing pregnancies and births. Sometimes, as explained, the “above” treatment has been offered without testing first! Remember that if you do decide to go through the tests, they can be expensive, as often some bloods are sent away for testing. Chromosome testing on both partners might be another option, so that if a defect were to be found, PGS (Pre-implantation Genetic Screening) could be offered to ensure that “correct” embryos were transferred. Confusing information I know, but you can’t help but want to try everything if you have had disappointments. I also have a list of questions that you might like to have a look at before seeing your consultant again. It’s too long to add here, but if you email me at dianearnold@infertilitynetworkuk.com I will send them to you. My emails are strictly confidential. Hoping I haven’t confused you further. Diane
Hi Hollibob, sorry to hear that the cycle hasn't worked again. Glad you've got a frosty as backup.
I think there is a test available for NK cells that you could ask about before you have the frosty put back.
Lots of love xxx
Thank you.
Hope you are ok?
X
I have another 3days of my 2ww remaining and I don't feel pregnant at all.
I was given pregnyl injections on day of transfer and 2days later which have probably worn off by now but I dare not test early.
I'm more worried about how my husband will take it if it has failed again as he has suffered from depression and headaches for the past few months. This will most likely be our last attempt.
Hope you're okay.
Xx
I've only just seen this hollibob. I am really sad to hear the ivf wasn't successful. I was really hoping it would have worked for you. This journey can be so cruel at times. No one deserves to go through this. Take as much time as you need to feel better. I can't even imagine just how devastated you must be feeling right now. 😔 I've seen women on here have success with one embryo there is hope. don't give up, I know it must be very raw & difficult right now.😊 Sending you lots of love and hope you are ok soon 💗 x x x
Thank you.
How are you getting on now with your medical battle?
X
A battle sums it up perfectly!!
Still bleeding between periods so spoke to a nurse Saturday and she rang me back Monday which was good and is arranging a follow up. 👍 But the medical secretaries are awful at keeping in touch with me. Playing another waiting game. Isn't it always ?!⌚️.
It's my wedding anniversary 4 years today 💍Not that we are doing anything really special. my son got his GCSEs results today he's done super well 👍
How you are you? How's everything going your end? I hope that all is going well 💗 x x x
Have you ever thought you might have any symptoms of endometriosis?
I've read that bleeding in between periods can be..thankfully I don't get that, just days of pre period spotting.
It sounds like you should definitely be celebrating today..congrats all round
We had an appointment today to discuss our frostie and the FET process..,
X
I am sorry to hear this hollibob.
I was told they would only freeze blastocysts that they felt had a good chance of surviving the defrosting process. So, fingers crossed your little frostie does the job for you! x
Big hugs! I've got one frozen left I'm using next month, the last one thawed fine for me - but didn't work x
Are you injecting already or know what date you are starting?
Good luck x
Hi no injections on a frozen until after transfer x going for a scan later to make sure my old lining of my womb has come away then they will tell me to start on tablets to help build a new lining up again x
My situation is exactly the same as yours second round fail and one in the freezer! It’s so hard it’s it? I don’t even know how I am going to do it again! How long do you think you will wait before the next transfer?
