What's your thoughts on having this test done ladies? I haven't been recommended one - just thinking of having it done myself along with a scratch prior to FET next month

Hi samrakkar. Checking for NK cells and performing an endo scratch is often reserved for women who have had at least 2 failed treatment cycles. Having an endo scratch is becoming more popular whether a failed cycle has occurred or not, so have a chat with your consultant and see what he/she recommends. Good luck with whatever you decide. Thanks! I'm going to have it done. Does it increase any chances? X

Hi samrakkar. I am hearing successes from having an endo scratch. New research and evidence suggests that scratching the womb lining causes a ‘repair reaction’ which may increase embryo implantation rates. More research is underway to understand exactly how this works, but it is looking good. Regarding testing for NK cells, if it positive, then usually the treatment is simply taking low dose soluble aspirin, combined sometimes with heparin – a blood thinning agent. Fingers crossed with it all. Diane

Hi Diane

They said I need to contact them when I ovulate and they will do a biopsy for cell testing along with a scratch at the same time x does that sound about right? X

Hi samrakker. Sorry for the late reply, as I only work Monday, Wednesday & Friday, and I finish at 4pm. Quite often a tiny biopsy of the endo lining is taken at the time of the scratch, and provided you are covered with antibiotics, which are usually offered, there shouldn’t be a problem. Good luck! Diane

Hiya

I was going to have this done but have been advised that you need to have clear 3 menstrual cycles before the test can be carried out after a failed cycle.

A consultant come highly recommended in Coventry several women have been there already. As its a biopsy of the womb you won't be able to have the scratch, FET next month due to this.

Some other hospital may do it differently.

Good luck with your journey it sucks I know 😢

Reading this post I am going to call clinic to discuss endo scratch option if suitable for me. I wonder that I am due to start nasal spray on 7th July, very soon it is, so would it be OK to have endo scratch? I am trying second FET, having failed one fresh embryo transfer and one FET.

I assume so babe - defo ask them - they wouldn't do my first one without a scratch - but I had that months prior as at the point of collection they told me I needed a tube removed before I could have the embryo put back - so had to wait months for it to be removed - hence the first scratch wouldn't of made any difference as it was done ages ago. But they did say they recommend it and from research too it seems it's another thing to help along with the glue x let me know what they say x
