The sooner you stop the better! Why put off to the weekend what you could do today? There are so many health reasons why you should stop. My dad had a heart attack a few years ago and the doctor asked if he was a smoker. He said he quit five years ago and the doctor said his lungs and body would have just about recovered. The sooner you quit the sooner your body can get on with detoxing and healing the damage that has been done.

I understand that it's hard to quit especially with the stress of TTC. Have you seen your doctor for help? They can give you a medication but I'm not sure if you can take this while TTC. I hope you are able to quit - be strong! :-)

Good luck with your transfer! xx

Hi, I completely understand how hard it is as I quit two weeks ago. I felt guilty as I knew that smoking was hindering my chances of falling pregnant naturally (as well as all the other risks to my health etc) so I thought time to kick the habit. I am using patches and a vape stick to ease the cravings and I have to be honest, it really hasnt been as tough as I feared! Good luck with everything!!! x

how far into treatment did you stop? i stopped around 2 weeks prior to collection - then needed them freezing for 6 months and picked up the habit again - i need to knock it on the head asap!

I have not started any treatment yet. Currently waiting on the result of my AMH test and then will likely proceed with IVF in July or August. I suppose I just wanted to give myself the best possible chance of being in good health for all that is ahead of me. I can understand you picking up the habit again with having to wait 6 months as with stress and everything it really isnt easy and to us smokers a ciggarette is a comfort at times. But honestly, my advice is to get the patches, they are working great for me. Plus you have proved you can do it before so you have the strength to do it again!! :-) best of luck x

I went to a smoking cessation clinic to stop and the breath test they do took two weeks to improve after quitting. Definitely stop now, you can do it :) Just think of the possible result and that will keep you motivated. Good luck x

Hi Samrakkar, I did read that chances of IVF being successful are reduced if you are smoking so I agree with Vickal. I'm not a smoker and I know it must be tough but stopping will give you the best chance of success x
