Good evening all. Does anyone know how long you have to wait before have sex after a BFP? I've been reading online & there are lots of different answers, 48hr, 2-3 w, 12 w?? I'm confused but worried about doing it too early as a lot of ppl said they started spotting xx cathie xx

I was told by my clinic that we didn't have to stop at all after transfer. We waited until about 9 and half weeks though. Just do it when you feel comfortable. Spotting would only be from your other half's penis agrivating your cervix, it's completely normal x

I read similar, vigorous sex should be avoided as this could be damaging but gentle sex can't harm the baby. Also read you might be more sensitive & things more intense. Check out the NHS website, more trusted info & they cover this. I'm a worrier so I've avoided sex since we started in Jan, poor hubbie not happy after such long time of being in demand 😜 x

Hi Cathie. It should be quite safe to have sex while you are pregnant. Often though, couples will wait until they have had their 6/40wk scan. Just have “gentle” sex for the first few weeks, and if any bleeding or spotting occurs, you will probably be advised to abstain until around 12-14/40wks of pregnancy, before trying again. Hope all goes well for you. Diane

Its a personal preference really. I had failed ICSI but then conceived naturally. I am 28 weeks pregnant and I haven't had intercourse since I found out. Call it paranoia but I didn't want to take any risks! My IVF consultant always said if I conceived after my egg transfer not to for the first 3 months so I guess people say different things x
