After 2 years of ttc I still find the wait between ovulation and my period arriving really hard so can only imagine how much worse it is after embryo transfer! Do you read? Maybe try a good book? Day time TV would drive anyone mad!

We have our first NHS appointment today. It's taken an eternity and I expect it will be followed by more waiting! I wish I was more patient!

Good luck x

I can image. had my first few test with them and one treatment a few years ago but was sick of waiting. so went private not that we can really afford it. you have more patients than me. I've got the attention spam of a fish with books. I pick up a book up them for get about it the next few days but thanks for the idea and good luck wish. This site has really helped the last few days to be fair. good luck with your appointment let us know how you get on x

It is a good site. It's just nice to realise you're not on your own and all of your feelings are completely normal!

Will let you know how it goes toda. I really want to know the timescales. We had all our tests privately and I'm ready for IVF now. If the wait on NHS is too long I would like to go back to the private clinic but at the moment I can't convince my hubby!

Hope your day gets easier and you find something to take your mind off the wait! When is your test day? x

Hi Hopeful1982, just thought I'd make you aware you have a choice where to use your NHS funding. My husband & I had to have all the tests with the NHS but then had our treatment funding transferred to a private clinic. For us it's the best option as our we have little funds so will reduce the costs if our first try doesn't work. Good luck xx

I didn't know that poochi! Thanks very much. I think I'll add that to my list of questions for today! I'm getting so fed up waiting. It's taken 10 months for this first appointment and I already feel down about it as I'm sure it's going to be followed by another lengthy wait!

poochi profile image
poochi in reply toHopeful1982

Oh try not to feel too down as this is the start of something amazing, your baby! Other things I did to speed up my treatment was to ring the secretary for cancellation appointments... I would ring most days to 'just check', she then gave me the next appointment just to stop me calling :) you might feel like you don't want to badger them but its your sanity so my advise is take control of whatever you can. It helped keep me sane.. also take any tests you can straight away if possible. My next appointment has been delayed as we are waiting on a test that takes upto 8weeks for the results due to my husband putting it off for 4weeks :( good luck xx

Do you have anything to distract yourself with? Maybe plan something for the weekend, even its a trip to the coast for a bit of sea air. I'm planning on taking myself for a drive most days even its to see random old buildings lol. If you don't fancy go out then you could get a jigsaw, they can certainly pass some time if you have the patience. Keep thinking sticky bean thoughts "stick little canonlyhope bean". Take care xx

I feel today that I may come on though! AF due Friday and I'm not feeling to hopefull anymore. Wishing you Lots of luck! X

I banned myself from Google and even from here during my last ivf.. Best decision I ever made, far less stress!

We need the equivalent of advent calendars for the 2WW - so we at least get a chocolate for each day completed.

It's really difficult, and yes, i agree, only so much TV one can watch. I think I was in a strange daze on the 2WW and i look back and honestly have no memory of it. I am really trying to think about what I did now.

It's not easy is it, but don't panic about it, even if you are worried and stressed it won't affect the outcome. It didn't with me and I worried alot, I think. Though my memory is so hazy.

Wishing you all the very very best of luck xx

I think Yellowrose has spotted a niche market! I might make my own 2ww advent calendar if we get to that stage again.

I continued working during the first week, my manager knew what was happening and I was able to work flexibly so could go home early or get in late if I needed to. We then had a week off as annual leave so we could distract each other.

Try to find some distractions that work for you, walking, window shopping, invite a friend round for coffee, baking etc.

Good luck.

You'll get to your next round pm27. Have you had scans recently to check on your follicles / cysts. Just so you know, I had bilateral ovarian cysts during IVF, well mine are always there due to endometriosis and the ovaries are adhered to the uterus with scar tissue - so I wouldn't be too worried about it.

It's good they have given you the pre IVF noresthisterone, I've been on that and it calmed things down - it will for you too, its pretty effective.

Keep us updated and sorry I missed your last post, I wasn't really fully recovered or using the site much after the hospital stay. Thanks for your support before hand too, via mail xx

I've got another week on the Norethisterone and then contact the clinic once my period starts.

Hopefully everything will have settled and we can start the next round.

I hope you are starting to feel better.

Thanks. Can't do window shopping. Got an addiction to buying clothing lol. Havent told a lot of people what's happening with me as wanted to keep it private. Last time I told people I was going for ivf it became the talk of the town soo they have no idea how far Ive got so far

Katrina13 profile image
Katrina13 in reply tocanonlyhope

I know waht your mean. People don't realise that someone's ivf is not every day conversation to have and gossip about ..we were shocked how many people ended up knowing our business as we had only told family.

canonlyhope profile image
canonlyhope in reply toKatrina13

I became the talk of the street after my boyfriends mom told her sisters 18 pregnant daughter. A random person that I no but don't talk to asked me how my ivf was going on the bus in front of the whole bus. fireworks stated that night. never to be forgot or forgiven

Katrina13 profile image
Katrina13 in reply tocanonlyhope

We had a builder come to do some work for us, and he asked me how the treatment was going. I'm still angry about it. Family gossips had spread it far and wide.

canonlyhope profile image
canonlyhope in reply toKatrina13

omg that's bad. Don't think ill ever forgive my in law. made my boyfriend lie about how far along we are so they have no gossip to spread

Katrina13 profile image
Katrina13 in reply tocanonlyhope

Yeah we told family we were not trying ivf again until January whereas actually we did it in November. We told them at Christmas that I was 8 weeks but not to tell anyone and guess what.. My hubby gets texts from his brothers friend congratulating us. I have learned a big lesson and I just won't trust them with anything again.

Thanks so much. It's been a tough journey but hopefully all worth it.

I think your idea of an inclusive spa break / holiday is a really good one. love it , very funny indeed.

Wishing you all the luck in the world and keep us updated. Wish I could recommend something.

Perhaps look at all the ridiculous rubbish published on the Daily Mail website, lol. I spend a while doing that each day at the moment, as I'm still too weak to go out post hypermemisis.

That and the Daily Mash (it's a satirical online newspaper), keeps me amused for a little while.

Do you have a pet? I follow my cat around alot, strange, but true. Chat and gossip on phone with friends sisters colleagues. Think about food, look at recipes online. Or perhaps write a little IVF diary. Have a doze. Look at luxury holidays online just to pretend you planning one.

You know, I actually looked at baby clothes online during the 2WW. Had never done anything like that ever before. but did it a few days post transfer.

Oh I remember now, I had pretty bad tummy pain post ET, but it was probably related to my severe endo, as it's still causing me pain now, (I'm used to it, had relentless pain for years tbh, because i am a mess down there).

So I really didn't do much during 2WW and then got an infection on the test day! It was building a few days before that, I thought it was the cyclogest causing irritation but it wasn't, it was darned thrush, misdiagnosed as a UTI!

So, that's a few ideas for you. All pretty drab and you've probably done them all anyway, lol. xx

I've been doing a lot of eating the last few months to pass the time put on a stone. use to run a lot but then got told its bad if your trying to get pregnant.

yeah I have a pet dog don't think I would have stayed this sane without him. helps take my mind of things. spending a lot of time on Netflix's they do loads of box sets thankfully. its not to bad once it gets past 3 pm time flys. its just the mornings when u get up and start thinking its not going to work and how will I afford it again.

thanks for all your suggestions. x

in reply tocanonlyhope

Yes, I found the mornings slow. It's really such an anxious time, there is no getting away from it is there..

Netflix is great, I think Ive pretty much watch all I wanted to.. spend waaay to much time at home but no energy still.

Take care xx

I also have 6 more days to go..tempted to do the test early. Especially as realised I'm waiting 16days & not 2ww as normal. bought the double clearblue test today..can't wait to use them..what do u reckon I should do? Test aft 14days or wait the full 16days?

canonlyhope profile image
canonlyhope

hiya. sorry on the slow reply. no Don't do it. you mite get a false negative or false positive. might not be enough of the hcg hormone to show a true result. was tempted to do the same but they googled some stuff and decided not too. keep us posted. x

I'm going to work tomorrow.."thank God". Never thought I would be happy t say that..but I was starting to go a bit crazy and do stupid stuff like taking the test 6days early. Yea I know stupid is not the word..

canonlyhope profile image
canonlyhope in reply to

How come ur going back already. Didn't u have the whole 2weeks off. Make sure u take it easy. Yeah I'm driving my self mad. My laptop broke for a whole today almost had a break down. Netflix is my life line at the min. X

No I've been lucky so far. I'm off from flying duties but was meant to be given work on the ground somewhere in the co instead. I've already used all my annual leave. So it was either this or taking unpaid leave. The clinic it's ok to work as long as not strenuous.

canonlyhope profile image
canonlyhope in reply to

That's ok then. Cnt get out of lifting in my job. Work with children. X

in reply tocanonlyhope

When I am stuck in traffic tomorrow will think of u watching Netflix and be jealous :)

in reply tocanonlyhope

Not to be too nosey and personal, but does going thru ttc make u job harder to face? I hope not, cause u must have loved being around children in the first place.

canonlyhope profile image
canonlyhope in reply to

Dnt worry ur not being nosey lol. Sometimes it can be hard working around children especially babies. Dnt understand how parents leave them their from 730 in the morning till 630 everyday and bring them in when their ill. Don't no how I'm going to face going back if it's bad news. X

Lotbot profile image

Canonlyhope, I know how u feel I work in a nursery and its hard when you have children all day everyday and you wonder how they can leave them and even when they are ridiculously Ill they still put up a fight to collect them and still bring them the next day almost like they don't care it's so hard xx

canonlyhope profile image
canonlyhope in reply toLotbot

life is curl and so unfair isn't it. some many people have children easily then treat their like rubbish and the you have all of us on then site breaking all hearts to have a child. Did u hear the news yesterday about giving pregnant smokers 400 pounds to stop smoking. makes me feel sick

Lotbot profile image
Lotbot

Its wrong, I've found it hard when 2 staff got pregnant at the drop of a hat and parents start asking me, even had a member of staff who knew about my problems ask me if I'd stopped changing nappies cz I was pregnant?!? I was like no not that it's ur business but its cz I'm deputy now and u know my problems how insensitive.

I was told it will make it even better and will appreciate the baby more as we have to work for it.

Xx

canonlyhope profile image
canonlyhope in reply toLotbot

People can be so insentive and it can be so hard to put a brave face on sometimes. Know one gets it unless your going through it your self. find it so hard to be around pregnant women. My boyfriends cousin who is 18 got pregnant by accident and it's all everyone talks about so I've cut them out my life x
