Hi there, yes fragrance free shower gel is fine we have a big sign in our clinic that says this as well. Good luck with everything! xx
@ines2885 aww thanks! so i'll get simple showergel! your a star - puts my mind at ease! definately definately ok? why do they tell you not to use anything fragranced.
Hi, yes you can use Simple fragrance free but also Sanex 0% which is not only fragrance free but also doesn't contain sls, parabens and no phthalates etc. I use that one and its £2 in ASDA, Boots etc. I have allergies so use the whole Sanex range all the time anyway.
It's because embryos, eggs etc are very sensitive to fragrances and it can harm them.
But its not only that, every time you go to the operating theatre you are not allowed any perfumed shower gels, no body lotion and no make up etc. I had a laparoscopy & dye test just over a year ago and it was the same. They said to me that its the same on transfer day.
Oh and your partner is the same! No fragranced shower gel and deodorant for him either
Aww thanks I've got simple but il pop to Asda tomorrow and get the sanex one! You definitely know your stuff. I'm shattered today but have to stay awake until mid night to take my trigger jab! Eek - are you having treatment? If so where abouts are you in it? X
Thank you no problem, glad I could help. Ooohh that's so exciting!! I wish you lots of good luck for your egg collection Please let us know how you got on.
Yes I am having treatment in Glasgow at the GRI. Currently in the last week of down regulation with Prostap. Back at the clinic on Monday for my baseline scan to see if I can start stims.
P.S: when you buy the Sanex 0% make sure that it says fragrance free on the bottle. Cause Sanex has different types of shower gels and there is only one which is fragrance free. It's in blue writing and it says 0% fragrance on the front X
Yey! Fingers crossed for you! I've been reading loads of posts about down reg I didn't go through any of that how strange - yea I will defo let u know how I get on x
Also when I went for a scan they said that I had fluid in my tube have you heard of this before? It wasn't there on the previous scan. They said they would drain it on thurs and give me antibiotics
Yes I heard of fluid in the fallopian tubes. Its usually caused by a Hydrosalpinx, which basically means clear fluid in the tubes. They can cause problems for the embryos. If the fluid gets into the uterus then it can cause trouble with implantation.
So its always best to get rid of that fluid. It's fantastic that they drain it for you They checked me for that as well as I have blocked tubes but mine are cause due to the Endometriosis so should be okay. x
Phew - il double check they are defo going to drain it - they did say they would x ur a pro at all this x

No problem I hope you saw my edited post on top about the Sanex Zero 0% (it says 0% fragrance) on the bottle. Just make sure when you buy it lol. But you should be totally fine with the simple fragrance free as well. As long as it has no perfume in it.
I try to attach this article about Hydros on here and see if they let me post this. I have done a lot of research about all this stuff. Its crazy.
Doing a Uni courses about Nutrition at the moment as well.
I am sure you will do great, especially as they said they would drain it for you!! My clinic checked me for this as well and they also made sure that I had no Endometriosis present on my ovaries before we started treatment. Which is great. All best xx
Got it! X
Surely if you used soap/normal shower gel but rinsed really well it would be fine?! I was told not to wear perfume or body lotion but I still used normal shower gel in the morning and rinsed everything well!
Good luck and here's hoping everything goes to plan for you!
Take care
X
This is a very valid question but did make me chuckle! Men don't have to think about anything like this! They say birth is Undignified but the amount we through b4 hand with infertility i think that bit wouldn't bother us now! Xx
I know you really get used to people looking at your bits don't you?! - my husband said you didn't even seem bothered when they took us in the room for the transfer! He said you just got up on the bed thing and put your legs in the stirrups like it was just a day to day thing! He said weren't you bothered you were all exposed?! I said yes of course, it runs through your mind, but after laps, internal examinations with doctors/specialists hands and internal scans with the long camera (some whilst on.....yuck! you kind of get used to it all don't you. I remember meeting the bowel surgeon the night before my big lap and OMG he was soooo dashing! I couldn't help but blush thinking of the state he would see me in the next day - then later my husband said just think where his hands will be!! What a sod! But it did make me laugh and diffuse a very stressful night. X
Very best of luck samrakkar!! xx
Oh Hope23 your last post made me giggle x
Good luck for tomorrow, my collection's been moved from today to Fri and now Mon! I'll be off tomorrow to buy the fragrance free Sanex too. I've heard that the 'Simple' range have quite a lot of chemicals in x
Aww how comes it got moved? Well I read the little book from the clinic which said shower as normal - just don't use deo or perfume - but nah not chancing harming my little follies - I went and got the sanex one earlier from tesco says 0% fragrance and other things that aren't in it! Good luck with urs too! Managed to get a acupuncture session in first thing to get me stimulated prior to collection. Are you having it too? Xx
Thanks for your reply. Wish I was having acupuncture. It's all been so hectic and the specialist acupuncture clinic near me hasn't replied to my 3 calls, 2 messages and 1 text! I might try one more time for a last min appt...I know you're supposed to have multiple sessions but it can't hurt. My fingers will be crossed for you tomorrow. Let us know how it goes xx
Aww thanks Hun x it's prob more so pre and post transfer - but some people don't even have it - I'm sure u will be fine either way. I only did it as was recommended to by friends and the clinic too! Il update you tomorrow on how I'm feeling! Xx defo try contacting them again or find another clinic xx
