Start fet in sept
Sorry I don't know what a prostap is??
Anyway, the FET timing depends on whether your doctor wants you to go for medicated or natural cycle. The pro's of medicated are that the cycle can be timed very well rather than natural where they are relying on scans to check what time to do the transfer and it may not be as accurate.
They may want you to do natural though if you have issues such as blood clotting (there is a lady on here with this problem, who is doing natural FET soon).
I will be having medicated FET, so for me this means I take the birth control pill for a couple of weeks, then buserelin injections for 2 weeks, then oestrogen pills for a few days followed by one HCG trigger shot to make me ovulate: then they will do the transfer and I use progesterone pessaries during the 2WW.
For a natural cycle, there are no drugs just scans to try and predict the ovulation time, which is when they would do the transfer.
I start my buserelin mid October for a 3rd November FET.
I'm sure it's medicated I am getting the prostap is a dr drug it takes control of ur cycle and gives the symptoms of menopause I think it's instead of taking the pill it only lasts around 3 weeks then u need to start a nasal spray but don't know if that's just in a natural cycle u use nasal spray :/ I no they mentioned tablets which I get at my scan but unsure when transfer is likely to be or if I need injections or anything x
Hi I had my prostap then a week later started my daily injections . Xx
I don't have my scan until 2 1/2 weeks after prostap and they never mentioned injections I think it's different in a frozen egg transfer than it is for a normal ivf as there's no stimulation for eggs I already had my first cycle and had 2 transferred and 3 frozen good luck with ur cycle
Aw soz didn't realise was frozen good luck xx
Aww I dunno think I'm just gonna have to wait and see what happens thanks tho xx
Hi Alc0503. The commonest down regulation drug that is used is called Buserelin and is taken either by sniffing it up your nose or by small injections into your tummy. In your case you have been prescribed a one off injection of “Prostap SR”. The first option is taken for 2-3 weeks – sometimes longer depending on how quickly the womb lining thins down. Your injection works slowly (SR means slow release) over about 4 weeks and tricks your body into thinking it is in a form of menopause, unfortunately, along with some of the symptoms of hot flushes and headaches etc. This will all pass once you start your stimulation injections. Hope that explains it a bit for you. Once you have your scan to check that you have no active cysts on your ovaries and your womb lining is thin, you will start your stimulation drug. This usually takes 7-10 days to do the trick. Further scanning is done and possible a blood test too. Once your leading follicle is of sufficient size, you will stop stims and have a one off “trigger” injection to release eggs into the follicles, followed by egg collection approx. 36hrs afterwards. Good luck with it all. Diane
Hi Diane I have already been through the ivf process and had my first failed cycle in July I am about to start my first frozen cycle (fet) so no stimulation drugs are required as my eggs are already frozen so I was unsure how the timeline went for a frozen cycle using the prostap xx
Hello, you will still need a trigger injection to make you ovulate, even though they are not collecting the eggs. This is because they want to know the exact moment you ovulate, in order to then time exactly when to put the frostie back into your body! The difference between this and full cycle IVF is that the trigger shot contains far less drug than in a full cycle.
I hope that helps!
Hi. Oops! maccerpops is spot on - I failed to notice that you are having a FET - sorry! All the best with it when it happens. Diane
