Hi Laura, my partner and I had been trying for 3 years when I was finally put on Clomid. I took it for 7 cycles and it worked in the sense that it made me ovulate, but did not lead to a positive conception. After 7 cycles, I was refferred for IVF, was granted funding and I am now going through my first cycle of IVF (almost 2 years down the line). My advice to you would be be prepared for a long journey....nothing happens quickly, you have to be patient which I know is not easy! Hopefully it won't be a long road for you and the 100mg of Clomid works, but it is always better to be prepared, as I have found it quite an emotional journey. Good luck
Hi, I used Clomid for 6 months when I first went to the dr about fertility issues 4years ago. Unfortunately it didn't work for me so was referred for IVF. We've just done our first cycle of ICSI and I'm now pregnant a friend of mine used Clomid and got pregnant after a few months....I can't remember how long! It doesn't work for everyone but it DOES work sometimes so fingers crossed for you xxxx
Hi lumpylaura, I'm on my 6th and last cycle of 50mg clomid and pinning all my hopes (however slim) on this last month! I had a textbook response to the 50mg but not pg but if nothing else it had given me added hope in that I am able to ovulate with help which makes me feel better about the next stage of our journey if IVF Is on the cards as I was worried even ov would not be possible. Good luck and I hope the clomid does the trick for you x
I had 8 months of Clomid, ovulated but no BPF. Now heading for private IVF. If you need hysteroscopy as someone mentioned, this should be done on NHS as it is not IVF treatment! Good Luck to you all
If clomid doesn't work, ask for letrozole. I had 3 clomid @ 50mg and 2 @ 100mg. It didn't make me ovulate and it sent me loopy! Ovulated each month on letrozole and no side effects at all. Good luck.x
I have been TTC for 15 years. I am 38 years old. I was put on Clomid 50mg for 4 months and nothing. I had a HSG and it came back fine. My husband was checked he was fine. We then went to a fertility specialist (Endocrinologist) and he put me back on Clomid 100mg. It literally drove me insane. Suicidal thoughts, Gloomy Mood and Crying Fits. I was on a cocktail of 100mg Clomid day 3-8 then I did Repronex Injections, then a shot to force me to release an egg and then I would do Progesterone Suppositories for the rest of my month until my pregnancy test. I did this for 6 cycles and never conceived. I told my Dr. about the side effects of the Clomid and what did he do? He put me on 150mg of Clomid and the same regimen to get me ready for an Intrauterine Insemination. Did that for 3 cycles and no success. It was heart breaking and mentally and physically exhausting. We quit trying for about 4 years and I am seeing a new fertility specialist now that has me on Letrozole. After doing routine bloodwork we discovered that I have hypothyroidism and I am now on medicine to regulate that. My Dr. is expecting to have good results with the Letrozole once I get my Thyroid regulated. It is a Breast Cancer treatment but it has shown to cause ovulation in pre-menapausal women. I have taken it for 3 cycles and there aren't any of the HORRIBLE side effects like Clomid. That drug is a nightmare. Good Luck and I hope you don't suffer the same side effects as I did.
