7 Day scan after stimulation feeling disappointed..

I have been having daily injections for 7 days and went for my first scan this morning to see how things were developing, I have 4 active follicles and 5 small ones which could develop either way. What are other peoples experiences at this stage as I feel a bit down about it, a good egg collection is between 8 and 12 so at the moment I have 4 with a potential for these 5 to develop!!!

Hi saz - don't worry or panic. firstly, you only need one good egg to make and embryo, and if that sticks, you won't care about the others.

the reason that they monitor you is to see how you are responding to the drugs, and if they feel the need they will adjust your protocol to bring more on if they felt they needed to.

that feels like a fairly good number, as they will hope that some of those 5 will do their thing.

If you do end up with a small number of eggs, they may transfer you over to ICSI if you aren't already due it, as they individually inject a semen into an egg, which can help with the fertilisation rates (that happened to me). But, if you are paying, there may be additional costs for this.

Thank you for the advice, I'm just so up and down at the moment.... We are on our first cycle so this one is NHS funded luckily.. Hubby told me to stop worrying but you know what its like..

4th round of treatment did. I'm currently 13 weeks pregnant. So keep in there. Far longer journey then we ever anticipated, but hopefully we will get our dream ending.

Thanks, still a little way to go.

It has been a very hard journey. Especially during the treatment, where the hormones seem to highlight any emotion you have, which, after the first round, became unoptomistic. So I used the counselling that is available to get some tools to make sure that I keep neutral in my emotions, and also to make sure that I kept going and didn't just curl up into a ball and cry. So make sure that you're getting the full support that you need.
