A bit worried about listeria / cold meats

Hi, Has anyone here been worried about listeria in pregnancy or asked for a test?

I don’t have symptoms of infection but realised I’ve eaten a lot of cold precooked chicken (because we don’t cook meat at home as my husbands vegetarian) I’d been so focused on avoiding other meats that I didn’t realise it was also a risk.

I’m going to speak to my GP about it when she’s next in

Speaking to GP should help put your mind at ease But remember as long as the chicken was stored in the fridge correctly and eaten within date -the chances of contamination are low Keep raw and ready -to -eat foods separate Ensure food is cooked until steaming hot through Also wash your hands frequently with soap & water

I think you’ll be okay with the chicken. Iisteria is actually in the unpasteurised cheeses and they are the most important to avoid.

Yea I’ve realised that I was overreacting yesterday. I just got into a rabbit hole. I’m feeling a lot better about it and don’t think I need to worry

I stressed a lot about cheeses, cold meats etc.. but honestly as long as meat is heated up properly and stored well you’ll be fine. I’ve eaten baked Camembert and pepperoni and ham on a cooked pizza a few times too. Always better to be safe. I’m sure you’re doing the right thing xx
