Hi, I’m going out of my mind with this. Pregnancy after baby loss is so difficult 😓
So these two tests are taken 48 hours apart. The top test is from Thursday and bottom was done on Tuesday.
My hcg had jumped from Monday 142 to 496 on Wednesday.
So why is it that the test line doesn’t look much darker? I have been too scared to do another test in case it is lighter. My clinic advised that I stop testing hcg due to the fact that it had almost quadrupled in 48 hours.
Any advice please? It is a cheapie Morrisons test.
Thanks

Secondly, I would listen to the clinic and stop testing with the urine tests. They’re clearly very positive but they’re also not as accurate as a blood hcg and definitely not meant to be read in the “is it getting darker” way. They’re only meant to show negative or positive and in the early days with so little hcg in the blood they may show a degree of darkening but I doubt it will from now on. Considering your hcg is growing steadily and quickly, they might even start lightening due to you having too much hcg in your system, because of the hook effect. So definitely stop testing now. The blood hcg is the one true measure right now and it more than doubled in 2 days so start believing! You are pregnant! Congratulations! 🥳 next stop: viability scan. Fingers crossed all goes well!
First, congratulations! It sounds like you’re getting some amazing numbers, which is really encouraging!
The tests can sometimes vary in darkness for lots of reasons that aren’t related to hCG levels, especially with the cheaper ones. It’s also really common to see some differences between brands, or even batches, which can make it all even more confusing. Your clinic’s advice is spot on, though. It seems like your hCG levels are rising beautifully, so it’s okay to let those numbers be your reassurance right now.
Congratulations! I just wanted to reassure you that I also tested regularly following my positive test and my tests never got darker, I was using some very cheap ‘mom med’ tests and panicked that I wasn’t getting the line progression like you see online. I eventually forced myself to stop testing and I’m currently 18 weeks pregnant. Early pregnancy is so hard and I found those early weeks tough, take each day at a time ❤️ wishing nothing but the best for you!
congrats! I know this feeling all too well, totally normal 🤗 I agree with what everyone has said the blood tests are the main things here over the cheapie tests and add to that the fact that the test you took several days ago will have had all that time to dry even darker I would say these are exactly what you would expect to see at that stage. Try a boots pink dye one in a few days if you do need do another test but there does come a point where they do t tell you that much tbh (I did do the clearblue weeks ones until they said 3+ then stopped so I am literally in a glass house here to be giving any advice on trying not to test lol) hopefully your first scan won’t be too far away but I know it feels like so long! Xx
Completeiy understand your feelings and worries. But I agree - stop testing. I did 3 HCG tests till numbers were in thousands and then moved on to worrying out viability scan. Sorry to tell you, there’s always something to worry about! But it’s completely worth it. I’m now 33 weeks. My advice is to just try and take one step at a time and let the positive thoughts in. You’re on the right path now to getting all your hopes and dreams! 💕
