Looking for some advice please. Last two Fridays in a row I have had sugar tests and the first was no result and the second inconclusive. I need to get another test and they want to wait two hours rather than one to draw blood this time. As results will take a while and I still need to schedule in the new test any suggestions as to precautions I can take already, particularly around diet.
Currently, I would say I eat fairly healthy regularly eating fresh fruit and vegetables not going crazy on carbs but I do indulge in occasional treats like a jam donut, crisps and junk food maybe two or three times a month.
I only really drink water and fruit juice (more water but I mix it up with a bit of juice so I don't get too bored) can't do hot drinks at the moment as where I am it is too warm.
Would love to hear your experiences and suggestions. I am 27 + 4 just hit the third trimester.

I am sure you will get some replies from ladies who have had the same problem This forum is an excellent source of peer support As you know this is a routine test carried out between 24-28 weeks of pregnancy Meanwhile try to limit your treats and go for low sugar options Try to flavour your water with cucumber /slice of lemon /orange /lime + some ice cubes rather than fruit juices Also may sure having some exercise - gentle walk - pregnancy yoga
Hi there! I was diagnosed with GD at 29 weeks (now 34+1). It came as a huge shock to me as I eat really healthy, rarely have sugary snacks and am quite active (well less so right now but still walking and yoga!) ☺️
It’s important to know that GD is your hormones.. it took me a while to get my head around that properly! Have a read of the Glucose Goddess it’s a brilliant book that has helped me soooo much!
I’ve been blood testing 4 times a day through a finger prick and need to get my fasting levels under 5.3 and my levels one hour after eating under 7.8.
I’ve found it’s bread and white carbs that are the worst for me. Also as a keen juicer.. who used to drink beetroot juice daily.. that is an absolute no-go, massively spikes my glucose levels.. It’s better if I eat a salad first, savoury breakfasts and try to keep moving.
If you have any specific questions I can help with them please just shout. Xx
Hi, you could opt to home monitor and then you would be able to get a better idea of your fasting versus after meal glucose. If your numbers are high they can diagnose or rule out from that.
I was diagnosed that way last week (21 weeks) and although it’s ok keeping my +1 glucose in check with very healthy eating and exercise, I cannot get my fasting glucose below 5.3. I’m going to start metformin tomorrow, was really hoping I could reduce it. Even the after dinner readings are normal, it just goes high at night.
