Hi there. Has anyone else had damp pants throughout second trimester? Trying to fathom of it's normal watery discharge, urine or possibly my waters... Though there was no gush or trickling... Just damp pants. I feel like they've been damp for a while and I'm just worrying, but it's really bothering me today which makes me think it's a subconscious change.
Wet Pants: Hi there. Has anyone else... - Fertility Network...
Wet Pants
It is normal to have a watery discharge during pregnancy - it can be thin, clear or milky white and should not smell unpleasant If changes colour or starts to smell you should see your mid-wife /GP For peace of mind might be an idea to call mid-wife /GP as it is causes you distress
Take care

Yes in my second pregnancy and it was my waters and a slow leak. Please get it checked as I didn't as I'd had something similar late in my first and it had turned out just to be unexplained wetness so I just assumed with my second it was the same thing. I felt really silly going to maternity triage but it's a super quick test and am so glad I finally did as my waters had started to go around 28 weeks and I didn't go until it got more noticeable around 31 weeks and I was admitted immediately and put on antibiotics and other meds in case I had to deliver early (which I did, but was able to hang on a few weeks in hospital). It was just a bit wet but nothing a panty liner couldn't handle and nothing like the gush or dripping etc people talked about or you see on TV. The risk of infection is too much and they normally have only a small window of time to treat you if it is your waters so just get it checked then at least you know. Hopefully it's just normal but I feel sick thinking about what could have happened for the sake of worrying I was being silly or wasting the nurse's time.
Thanks for your reply ❤️ I'm only 18 weeks so had convinced myself it was all over, especially as I'm awaiting a cervical length scan due to risk factors. I went to triage, they were so lovely. The cervix was long and closed, and the actim prom was negative so not amniotic fluid. So I guess just unexplained wetness... But it's all very stressful isn't it!?!
That's great news! It's worth getting checked just for the relief and I wish I had gone sooner.
Still seem to be losing fluid of some description, but I guess it's normal and I'm just going to have to keep an eye on it!
Yes it can be and it was for me first time around but it was such a small amount second time and I wouldn't have got it checked if it weren't for the placenta previa and just a niggling feeling that something wasn't right. By the time I went to the hospital my waters had all but gone from around the baby and she was in distress. It was a scary time and better to have it monitored.
I have had to wear a pantyliner everyday the whole way through my pregnancy I feel like if I didn’t I would feel damp / wet which obviously isn’t pleasant & that wasn’t the case pre pregnancy x glad you have been to get checked x
I’m sure it’s most likely wee or discharge but please get checked. I thought I was being paranoid at 23 weeks and went and got checked- I had just felt ‘wetter’ down there. Turns out it was a slow leak and I ended up needing antibiotics to avoid infection and monitoring twice a week for the rest of my pregnancy. (All was well though and he’s here now).
But I think I was just unlucky
same here Keggles36 I went and had it checked for peace of mind - don’t hesitate to contact triage if you ever have a concern- it’s what they are there for!
I'd say it is just normal clear discharge. The pelvic floor is going through changes so it would be normal for this to happen. I myself have experienced this type of discharge from 2nd trimester onwards. If you wear a daily pad this may make it more comfortable for you to keep fresh and dry. This is what I did.
i would go to hospital and check it they scan and also swap and take water sample which is reassuring , My Dr said do it whenever it happens no matter how many time
The positive side is I had this issue in my second trimester and always turned out ok ..
I had this during both pregnancies, I remember wearing light grey pyjamas without knickers and I was horrified to see that it looked like I'd wet myself.
I did go to the hospital once or twice with my eldest to check I wasnt leaking waters as I had a lot of it. I was told it was just watery discharge.
With my youngest I nearly went in again thinking it was my waters but I had a scan the next day and she still had plenty of fluid around her.
It's worth checking over just incase but it's likely to be discharge. I started getting it in the second trimester too and it lasted until I gave birth. I just wore daily panty liners.
Congratulations on your pregnancy BTW!
