Advice on telling manager I’m pregnant

I’m currently 10wk1d following an FET and I’m really struggling with nausea and sickness.I had last week off due to sickness and having a UTI.

I don’t know if it’s too early to tell my manager as I’m worry other colleagues will find out but I’m dreading throwing up in the offices and just generally managing with the commuting and would feel much better wfh.

I used annual leave for my fertility treatment so they weren’t aware. When did you tell your workplace were they supportive?

hello, I actually told my manager we were starting ivf after our 1st consultation as my job requires alot of travel so I just needed to put it out there as early as possible. if you are worried - for the well-being of both you & baby please tell them, they should be accommodating especially with all you have had to go through to get to this stage. we are allowed 1 wfh day a week but most weeks I take 2 now as my daily commute is 3 hrs and it’s just a bit much x congratulations - wish you well for the future x 💞

Hi. I work in the NHS. I told my consultants before starting the cycle and found everyone to be incredibly supportive. After getting pregnant I had my occupational health appointment at the hospital and required adjustments were made to my work as er their recommendation. You would know your workplace and colleagues better, so if there's nothing outwardly toxic,vi would advise informing your manager and colleagues. Good luck

I told my manager at 8/9 weeks I think even though I had no issues other than tiredness. My job is predominantly lone working 30 miles drive to many unknown vulnerable customers. At the time I had a big drug issue in two properties and didn’t feel comfortable attending either address. So I shared my pregnancy early. Work have been great and fully understand why I wouldn’t go into certain areas. As it’s my first pregnancy I didn’t know what to expect and I’m lucky I can manage my diary to suit, which has been great for those early weeks of needing 15min cat naps through the day 😂

Thank you, I’m 11 weeks this weekend so I’m feeling more comfortable to start sharing my next scan isn’t until 12wk5days it feels so far away.

The need for cat naps is real when I wfh I’m forever powernapping.

It certainly gets quicker. Sometimes I was having 4 naps a day 😂. It’s hard for anyone to comprehend unless they’ve been pregnant too

I told my work very early on and asked to be able to wfh as I do all my work online and there is no need to travel anywhere. My journey is in is around 2 hours, and is exhausting.

They haven’t been that great tbh so I ended up getting my GP to write me a fit note to say it’s better for my health to work at home, so basically I’ve been able to do that the whole pregnancy so far.
