Baby’s Movement

hello, I am 17+4 & had a scan this Tuesday gone & baby was wriggling away (he always is when we go to see him) but I am wondering when I will feel something & know for sure it’s him. I have had little flutters / a rolling sensation under my hand in the evenings and a couple of times during the day but it isn’t significant and no pattern.

I just wondered when you lovely ladies felt movement & what should I be looking out for. As always Dr Google is full of mixed messages. I know it can depend on body shape, weight, placenta location etc but any advice would be appreciated.

Thank you x

Hiya, congrats on your pregnancy! Mine wasn’t until week 21 with my first baby! Such a lovely feeling when you know that’s what it is. And you’ll just know! Sending love xx

I am having my first and I started to feel her for certain around 21 weeks, it really is a magical feeling when it becomes regular and you start to see some patterns. It feels like something is rolling around in your belly! My placenta is on the front of the belly (anterior) and I am average weight. Congratulations on your pregnancy xx

If it's your first it can be quite late. Also depends on whether the placenta is at the front or back. First time I don't think I felt much until 21 weeks, and not certain until 24 weeks but that was with placenta at the front. This time the placenta is at the back and I felt movements earlier, but still probably not much until 21 weeks. Earlier on, both times I saw them basically somersaulting on scans and couldn't feel a thing. But even with the first, once the space became an issue and everything became very cramped (30+ weeks) I could really feel and often see what was going on, like when they rolled over (I actually found it quite creepy!)

Congratulations!!! I started feeling movement at about the 24-week marker. You'll know it's the baby moving when it happens and it's absolutely thrilling! Wishing you a healthy pregnancy! x
