folic acid after 12 weeks

Has anyone stopped taking folic acid after 12 weeks or just carried on taking it? I take 5mg xx

I hope u don’t mind me jumping on this post but I’m super interested in the response as I take 5mg folic acid also and was unsure whether to continue or stop. Sorry I don’t have any wise words of wisdom 😊 xx

13 weeks last Thursday. It doesn’t get any easier with all the worry or concerns does it? Xx

congratulations 🥳 I’m 15 this week! Not in the slightest I question every little thing and I don’t want to get excited until the baby is here which is sad because pregnancy is meant to be an enjoyable time. I don’t look online because I think there is way too much out there can just causes more worry xx

Hi Aurora. You have been taking Folic Acid to reduce chance of Downs' Syndrome and other brain problems. If you have had a satisfactory scan at 13 weeks showing all is well, then speak to your midwife and see what she recommends about carrying on with it. Happy pregnancies all of you! Diane

Hey I am 14+5 and still taking it, I just take Pregnacare and it’s in there. It’s supposed to be safe all pregnancy so I guess I will keep taking it until (hopefully) I have this baby x

I just took pregnacare (no extra folic acid) and everything has been fine so far. Xx

Hi! I was on 5mg folic acid ubtil week 16 (but I think that was more communication error and was meant to stop at 12 weeks)

Still taking pregnacare though which has folic acid

I took it throughout for my last pregnancy and intend to again this time.

I don't think it is any harm to keep taking it....

The 2 separate Dr.s that I had for both my births recommended I continue taking it throughout the pregnancy. I was also told to still take it as I continue to breastfeed so that the baby continues to get those nutrients.

Hi there, i was told to reduce it down to the normal 400 mcg(?) dose rather than 5mg.
