Covid vaccine while pregnant...

hey! I know this is personal choice to get the covid vaccine....

I am just finding it hard to find any guidance on which type of covid vaccines are recommended during pregnancy and when in the 9 months etc.

My GP was very vague....he said the person giving me the vaccine would advise...but I wanted some clear info.

Pre- pregnancy I am pro vaccine - just a bit nervous getting it pregnant.

Any advice would be appreciated....

I had all 3 of mine pregnant (13, 21, and 34 weeks; 2x Pfizer and 1x Moderna, which are the 2 recommended for pregnancy). There’s zero credible evidence the COVID vaccine has any negative effects on pregnancy and several research studies on huge numbers of pregnant women to show no increase in birth defects or miscarriage. The original guidance was to avoid the jab in first trimester but that has now changed. It’s most important to make sure you’re protected before 3rd trimester so depending on how far along you are and how many jabs you’ve had that might affect when you get a booster. Xx

Thanks! I have had my 3 previous - just due my booster on Friday.

I think I just wanted the gp to say which types etc. but he was so vague...

As long as you declare you are pregnant when you book/go to get the jab they will give you the right one xx

Hi lovely. I went through the same worry over Covid jabs as I couldn’t find information anywhere as to whether it was okay to have the new bivalent jab. However, my doctor confirmed as long as I had Moderna or Pfizer it was fine to have the updated jab and so did the pharmacist where I got my jab (Moderna bivalvent) done. I had this a week ago now and all appears to be well 👍🏼 I’ll be getting my flu jab too next week xxx

I am having mine on Friday - and of course the flu jab when my GP gets it.

Then we will be as safe as possible I suppose!

I was thinking how awful xmas period would be avoiding everyone if I wasn't vaccinated....

just to let you know about the flu jab, you don't need to wait for your gp. You can get it done in boots for free if pregnant, you can book online. Thats how I got mine last year x

no problem! Its better than waiting. Also on your original q I had pfizer while pregnant at 16 and 23 weeks and I have a perfectly healthy 1 year old. I don't understand why after all this time the gov can't give clear guidance on the covid jab in pregnancy.

I had mine yesterday and it was Moderna which seems to be the most common one being given at the mo. Looks to be safe from what I’ve read!

I had 2 x a Pfizer when pregnant and was completely fine - although I wittered beforehand, so totally get that worry. I appreciate the jabs offered are a bit different now but essentially if the hospital are advising you to have them I would - they probably won’t stop you getting it but should lessen the impact which could be unpleasant in the 3rd trimester. As others have said there is no evidence of harm as far as I know x

Gosh this so bad from your GP.

Government advice for pregnant women is Pfizer and Moderna, as there is not enough data on others covid vaccines (for pregnant women). Also pregnant women are no more on a priority group, as per government advice, and it’s for you to make your own decisions taking in consideration pro and cons.

Hey there, I had Moderna booster a few weeks back now. Coincidentally it was a midwife who administered it along with flu jab and was very reassuring. No problems after the jab.x Probably the fewest side effects so far. Just a little sensitive at the injection site for a few days but that was about it.x

Update - just had spikevax moderna booster - am so nervous, but hopefully all will be ok!

Reassured that it is half the previous vaccine dose.....
