Yak - yellow / green discharge 33 weeks

Hello lovely ladies and apologies in advance for this question but I’m 33 weeks pregnant and 33 weeks paranoid. I noticed recently that my discharge had changed to a yellowy / greenish colour and the odd clump every now again when I wipe. I’m up early because I’ve been googling all night and didn’t like what I read. I’m worried I’ve left it too long now thinking it was normal, I’ve had all sorts of tests having gone through the IVF process so I know it’s not an STI but has anyone else experienced this? I’ve not got any pain or itching etc so just at a loss, I will ring the midwife when it’s a decent hour but just wanted to see if anyone else had Experienced and if baby was ok? Thanks in advance xx

Hey hun, not experienced that myself but sounds like maybe bacterial vaginosis? I would ring your midwife or the midwife advisory line as they might want to do a swap to get the right treatment. Like thrush I don’t think it is dangerous during pregnancy but you might want to get it checked before giving birth to protect the baby picking anything up when going through the birth canal. At least that is as far my knowledge goes. Discharge can definitely change due to hormones etc so might just be that as a trigger.

You should definitely go and see your GP. Thrush which isn’t harmful to baby is very common in pregnancy. BV can be though so best treated asap and from the greenish you mentioned it could be. X

Thanks both - I spoke to a midwife on saturday AM after being up stupidly googling all night. She told me off for going on Google 😂 but said it’s normal for a change in colour due to your hormones however if it smells or is itchy and sore (which is isnt) then speak to the doc. However she did say that if I was still worried on Thursday when I go to the consultant for our first growth scan - mention it and they will swab. She also said to be careful what you wash with etc. the joys of being a female. Thanks for getting back to me. Once I get on the google path I’m a crazy person. Especially given the situation, I don’t think I have ever been so paranoid. Xx

I’d be paranoid too tbh.

It's possible it's your mucus plug coming away if the discharge is very thick but definitely speak to your GP or midwife to rule out an infection xx

That’s scary, just my stomach do a flip. I keep thinking I am going to kick arse at labour (me trying to prep myself) but I nearly cried getting a stitch walking up a hill yesterday 😂😂😂 I will ask the consultant on Thursday when we go and see what they say. Xx
