I have my 7 week scan tomorrow, but for the past week I have experienced extreme nausea and bloated/gassy sensation where it’s controlling my daily plans. I have spent my time on the sofa since Wednesday. ☹️ I wanted to know any tips?
Thank you ❤️

Hi JammPot,I find it helps me to eat little bits through the day - e. G. Some nuts or salty pretzels. I find nausea worse when I'm hungry, even if just a little bit.
Have you tried peppermint tea?
X
Thank you, really helpful. I am off to Asda shortly so wanted to a few bits in mind to search for. I spoke to the clinic this morning who advised the same, the sensation thrives when you’re feeling hungry… I have tried peppermint tea, which eases it for a very short while x
The main thing that work for me was snacking throughout the day and mainly solids, no liquids, although I forced myself to drink water in small sips to keep hydrated. Rest whenever you can too!
Forget ginger ladies get yourself to the docs ASAP if you have hyperemesis it's best to catch it early. I'm currently 38 weeks and the sickness started from week 5 didn't really get under control until 30 weeks and even that was on medication. Starts as nausea then the sickness kicks in
Drink whatever you can small sips little and often and my best advice is don't feel guilty about what you can eat that bean is surprisingly resilient to draining all the vitamins out of you even when you feel like your desperate to eat healthy for the baby.
Gaviscon (or supermarket own brand) was really helpful! X
I am in the same boat. Don't want to eat at all. not even salt crackers are helping. I can eat a banana or some mango slices. But thats it. not even bland food is settling in. today i could not even drink liquids. Have my scan on Friday, planning to bring this up so I can get some relief.
Even taking the prenatal vitamins seems like a chore. 😢
Good luck for your scan on Friday, hoping they can answer any queries you have. My nausea has seemed to have gotten worse today ☹️
PS, I just re-read your post and I hope your scan was okay today xx
Scan was quite emotional, we saw little grapes heartbeat. Thank you for asking! All this nausea becomes worth it, but very draining/controlling ☹️ x
Ice lollies seem to help me....both for sickness and getting more liquids x
During my pregnancy, ice was my best friend as I did not just suffer nausea that led to sickness, I also suffered with the metallic taste in my mouth which led to excess saliva. I had lots of ice lollies but also drank iced water, munched on ice, I even made smoothies with lots of ice.
Ice sounds like a good shout, as I have similar.. that metallic taste with excess saliva sensation leading to sickness 😣 thank you x
You’re welcome ☺️. Other things that helped me to manage the excess saliva when I was out and about was grazing. Salty peanuts, pistachios and tangy fruits were ideal. I also sucked on lemon slices if it was really bad. But be careful of lemon as it can be bad for your teeth. I only did it once in a while.
I literally have no top tips for you other than push your doctor for medication and swap meds if it isn't working. I tried all the tips and tricks and nothing worked. I suffered with my first and put up with it as the GP said it was just part of pregnancy and to deal with it...i had it until he actually arrived. Second time around there was no way I was just 'dealing with it'.
I'm 25 weeks and the medication (after various swaps and back to the original) is finally starting to work! you might find that it gets better with time, but if it's keeping you from getting on, I'd speak with your Gp ❤️ congratulations mama! xxx
Uff, sorry you’re suffering. Nausea is the worst.
Ice lollies can be really soothing! I also found sucking boiled sweets helped a little as did lemon water. I ate whatever I could manage without worrying too much if it was healthy. But, yes, like others say, if it’s really extreme ask your doctor for meds.
