Covid lifting of restrictions

I am 17 weeks tomorrow and have just seen the news that self isolation laws will be scrapped from Thursday. I am quite worried about going to work in a busy train on Friday. Just wondering how everyone else is feeling about this. Are you arranging to wfh full time?

Hi ❤️ understand how you feel as I've been concerned and worried about this too. I start my medication today for my FET so I feel as if it couldn't come at a worse time. Unfortunately I can't work from home. Are you able to at all? Hopefully if we were to get it, it would be very mild and not as risky as omicron isn't as bad they say. Just have to still try and keep distance where possible and be as safe and careful as possible. Congrats on 17 weeks 🥰 xxx

Hi there ..yes I agree.. you don’t want anything to interfere with your cycle! I’ve had Covid and it wasn’t bad but I was at an earlier stage of pregnancy then. It is a worry.. getting it again. Thanks for the congrats ☺️ And good luck on FET cycle 🤞🏽🤞🏽

One small thing to do is get some FFP3 masks. I wore one any time I was in public. You can get vented ones easily from hardware stores (3M are a good brand). One ought to be fit tested for them but even without they are much better than surgical masks and the vented type are not used in healthcare so not taking away from the frontline xx

Am not too happy about it all being lifted. I haven’t had covid and kept myself safe the whole time but with everything being scrapped I doubt I can dodge it now! I will continue the way I have been and only go to appointments and the supermarket. Plus I am still pretty sick anyway. Maybe I should now get my booster 🤨xx

I definitely advise the booster if you’re eligible. I had it no problem and then my partner caught covid a week after and I managed not to get it at all. Very glad I had it

I am hoping I have some immunity left. I had Covid in December so has to wait a while until becoming eligible for the booster. I also wanted to have it as late as possible so that I can be sure to be covered in 3rd trimester.

Sorry to hear you are sick.. it’s quite tough. I haven’t had my booster yet either so I think it is time. I’m not best pleased about the train journeys to work. Trains are quite busy nowadays. Fingers crossed you can avoid the bug! Xx

Hey, I totally get how you are feeling. I’m 20 weeks and in Scotland we have a few more weeks before restrictions are being lifted and, even then, thankfully Nicola is keeping self-isolation if you test positive in place which I think is only sensible. I personally think BoJo has lost the plot and just wants everyone to get covid and doesn’t care about the risks to people who could get seriously ill or for who getting it could have significant side effects. I have been out for dinner and lunch a few times but we have been very careful and are still limiting how many folk we see so my husband and I have so far managed to avoid covid, and I’d like to keep it that way. I am lucky that there are office changes in place at my work as a result of covid but until everything is sorted (we’re moving building) we are to continue to work from home so it is likely I will not be asked to go back to the office before I finish for matt leave in the summer. However I would be like you, and very worried, if I thought I was going to have to get a train with unmasked people everyday. Would your employer let you vary your hours so you could avoid the train at rush hour or continue to work from home a few days a week? I have also been stock piling lateral flow tests as I believe they are going to stop being available in the next few months and I want to ensure I have some to test friends and family once baby arrives to try and keep it as safe as possible. I can also advise that I had my booster in Dec and had no ill effects to baby so I definitely think it is worth getting it. Good luck. Xx

I wholeheartedly agree.. I think BoJo is now just trying to get it all over and done with so washing his hands really. I can hopefully modify my hours at work but I am also studying and have to attend a class every Wednesday from 9-5. Loads of students on campus… nightmare. Well done for being able to avoid the big.. I caught it I. December and don’t fancy catching it again. I haven’t had my booster yet but am planning to in the next week…I am still due the flu jab as well but considering that the flu season is almost over , I am considering whether to bother. Wish I had gotten myself dom Lat flo tests. I have about 5 at home and tried to order some from the NHS and couldn’t get any. It’s really good luck that you will probably not have to go back to work b4 your mat leave.. you can avoid all the chaos out there as much as possible

Same fears and anger here! I am very lucky that my workplace is still letting people WFH, and I will be avoiding any public space (if BoJo doesn't care about my health, I care even less about his economy). I am planning to wear FFP3 masks everywhere else (hospitals, GP, supermarkets). My midwife suggested postponing the booster until week 16-17 (to cover me until the end of the pregnancy) but I think I will anticipate it to next week (week 14).Keep safe!

I am still wfh 3 days a week, but 1 day in class and 1 day in the office. I work in a university so loads abs loads of Contact with different people😬

My working place is also thinking of moving to 1 day in the office 4 at home from March, but it is a bit in the air -- but a good push to anticipate the booster. I don't think the midwife will disagree if I have it 2-3 weeks earlier!

So catching covid in pregnancy is most of a worry when you’re in the third trimester. You’re far from that so I think you’ll be alright for a good while. As long as you’re vaccinated there’s not much else you can do. I’m self employed so I’m a law unto myself so luckily I can work at home but I’m now approaching 3rd trimester. My friends are organising a baby shower and I think it will be in London which I have to admit I’m slightly worried about covid and the train at 36 weeks but we have to get back to normal at some point I guess.

Yep.. I have had Covid in 1st trimester and I was quite ill… even though I am double vaccinated. Vaccination does not stop you from catching it again hande my worry. Booster next week and then just go for it I guess but after the 5 year long journey I had to achieve pregnancy, I am concerned… it is as of now I should just leave it to chance… luck of the draw, etc. London has become very busy again.. the trains, restaurants and pubs and just generally everywhere..

Its great that you can work from home.. its the safest at the moment. Let’s hope that things will just get better and we don’t get another variant that sets us back.

Enjoy your baby shower.. it will be so much fun! Looking forward to seeing your birth announcement very soon 🤗🤗

Eek doesn’t sound nice but sounds like your baby was fine despite you catching covid. Hopefully it’s providing you some immunity anyway now. I think I must have been super immune at the time my partner caught it simply as I had all the booster antibodies. My partner was twice vaccinated too- so I could only put it down to my booster that meant I didn’t get it. Not sure that’s the case as time goes on. And no sign we’ll get another in spring. The good news is that the stats I read about 3rd trimester babies was that those who were vaccinated didn’t report still births but unfortunately those that weren’t did. I have no idea on the reliability of enough subjects for this data but even so it was a good indicator. If I have to go into London then I’m going to try and avoid rush hour. Everyone agrees it’s important to stay safe in trimester 3 from a work perspective so maybe petition that when you get closer.

My partner also escaped catching Covid from me and hadn’t had his booster at that time. I think I was just more susceptible… we will soon find out (at the anomaly scan) whether baby is fine but he/she is quite active so 🤞🏽they did say that your baby you do not transfer Covid to your baby en utero in early pregnancy but I am not sure if this remains the case later in pregnancy. Glad the stats are in favour of being ok… a blessing although this only means that you are likely to be ok not guaranteed.
