IVF Funding - high BMI

Hello,

I know that I need to bring my BMI down to below 29 to gain funding for IVF (my consultant let me now this in December) but I have noticed on the funding guidelines it states that I must bring this down to 29, and keep it at 29 or below for 6 months before treatment can start.

Has anyone else had experience of this? I am concerned at 33 I am going to need to lose the weight, then keep the weight off and I will be tipping 34 by the time I get to IVF funding.

thanks so much x

Hi, never heard about the 6 month rule however yes bmi has to be below 29.9. The clinic will weigh you and will not take into account your clothes etc so I'd bring your bmi down to min 27 bmi because your clothes will weigh at least 1.5 lbs. I took my dress off but kept my tights and underwear on just in case (it was a female nurse). Because I'm very short I was concerned the bmi was not in my favour.
