Anyone else having an egg retrieval this Friday? My scan today went well and I was pleasantly surprised how many eggs were recruited. I am 43 years of age and expected single figures but it looks like I have at least 10 but now I am worried about quality. I was on 375ius of Gonal F and 75ius of menopur.
I am aware that people over 40 tend to respond better to milder stimulation but my clinic recommended this course of treatment for me. Is there anyone else over 40 that was on pretty high dosage of stims and what was your outcome?

Hello hun! I’m also just getting ready for my egg retrieval today. I’m so super excited but I don’t have many eggs during my last scan. I’m just hoping I’ve got some good quality eggs even if they are fewer in number. Good luck to you too! Keep me updated xxx
Thank you so much! I can’t wait. I have been feeling some pain in my pelvic area. During my last scan on Wednesday, the doctor commented that I was ready and asked if I felt discomfort.Don’t have a lot of follicles but a number were a good size.
Wishing you luck as well and fell free to tell me how things went later today. I get more nervous during the the time they tell you how your embryos are doing.
Thank you for the update. Great stats my lovey! I got 13 eggs! Did not know this 43 year old had that many eggs. Like you have 5 out of 9 mature fertilise successfully. I am also waiting for daily updates. I will be freezing mine. What about you? Will you be having a fresh transfer?
I’m doing a fresh transfer as I wasn’t overly stimulated! Omg very impressive! 13 eggs damn!! Very good haha. Have you heard back from how many have fertilised? It’s so nerve wrecking 😩 xx
Yes. I did say in my previous post. Although I have 13, only 5 fertilised. Exact same number as you! Obviously not all were the best quality but that is to be expected for my age. The number still amazes me though.
Sorry to hear you are stressed. Just remember that you have a good number to work with and there is a lot to be positive about, some people have only 1 or 2 and they still have an embryo to transfer.
In times like this, I just pray, meditate, focus on what has gone well and do things to keep staying as positive as I can in the circumstances. Keep me posted xxx
Absolutely, I will keep you posted. I was offered a fresh transfer and I was tempted but because I had a plan, I wanted to stick to my original plan of embryo banking with FET. I might do a fresh one at the end of my 3rd cycle as my consultant is flexible and keeps giving me options!
I just saw your other post which I will respond to. I think I am relatively calm because I have been through this before twice! I also have one more round to go so I know this is not the end. I felt as nervous as you the first 2 times so I get what you are going through!
I will have you in my thoughts and prayers so please do message me at anytime.... We are EC buddies after all 😉
