I have my ultrasound appointment on 17th March and my husband has his sperm aspiration procedure on 25th March! Getting nervous and anxious now! More so him than me!
I am looking for advice on what happens after my ultrasound appointment because I’m still not at target weight yet. I’m 6lbs away from getting to BMI target
Anyone got any advice or info. We are doing NHS IVF and this is the first time so it’s all a bit new
Thanks!

At mine, they did the internal scan , swab for STD, bloods to check amh, weighed me, did height and calculated BMI ETC. The dr asked a load of questions about life style etc and as we had my husbands results already, he said we had a chance with ICSI only.
Then we had a review appointment to discuss results after that and were put on the treatment waiting list .
-husband gave sperm sample, zero count diagnosed with CBAVD. Carrier for Cystic fibrosis
- we attended urologist and they weighed me BMI was 43 at that time and they told us I had to loose lots of weight before anything else would happen
**18 months goes by**
- received appt for GRI fertility clinic to meet with consultant
- hubby’s bloods have been done indicating normal sperm production
- I have had bloods done for all BBV and AMH levels are normal
- last time I was weighed in Nov BMI was 33 it’s now 31 (this was only the second time I had been weighed over the course of two years)
- we have attended genetic counselling and I have been tested and not a CF carrier
Does this mean we are at the top of the waiting list? Also if I’m still not at target, which is not going to happen in 4 days! Will they still go ahead with husband surgery and will the sample be frozen until we meet criteria....nobody has given us much info about that.
Also my hubby has really struggled mentally and emotionally with the whole thing yet when he attended to complete consent forms with the embryologist they gave him the referral details for counselling service that they offer specifically for couples dealing with this and the doctor was shocked to discover we had not been informed of this at the very start of this whole process.
Awh pet, that’s a lot to deal with . Better to know early though so you can prepare your heart . Glad you’ve been directed to counselling , it’s great. I’ve been going myself .
If it was me I would write down ☝️ these questions and phone the clinic right now. It is my understanding that you can only begin treatment when your bmi is within their targets. You’ve done great to impact that. Tough going I’m sure 😘💖💐 even just ask for time scale until you begin ivf , they should be able to tell you this at least. I phoned twice to ask where I was on the waiting list .
By the sounds of it though you are already well on your way to the actual egg and sperm bit though? When is your next appointment ?
Massive hugs,
Hopefully someone who has been through this version can help you more specifically ,
Cannot believe no one mentioned counselling! We were over-told! Tuesday isn’t too far away, they may conduct your appointment over the phone with this whole covid thing so get your stuff written down . Bless your heart ❣ 😘
It’s for my ultrasound so I’ll be going to the hospital! I’m not worried about the covid stuff. I work as a nurse so all caught up with the do and donts. They have all my information already that’s why I’m confused as to what happens after hubby’s operation xx
