Yesterday I received another ‘I’m sorry’ phone call with a BFN. This was our 3rd round of IVF in 6 months with 3 lots of egg collections, 2 transfers. This time we transferred two embryos, a 5ab and 4ab, so I was feeling hopeful.
I’m soon to turn 43, and am physically, mentally and financially exhausted from these back to back rounds. We have 1 frozen embryo left, which isn’t as good quality. We had started thinking about donor eggs, but I’m just not sure and I’m not convinced it’ll work seeing as our last embryos were pretty good quality.
So I just don’t know what to do next. I want to have a break, get some life back, stop thinking about injections and everything else. But then I’m also very aware I’m getting older every day! Any thoughts or advice gratefully received. Thank you. Xx

Your embryo you have frozen won't get older, so if you need a break often its just what your mind and body needs.. I think its really important to be physically and mentally fit when doing IVF. I wouldn't stress too much about the embryo grading, its only a snapshot in time and I know plenty of people who had BFNs with all their best embryos and their babies from their worst!!
But I guess if you are thinking of using more embryos the sooner you can collect your eggs the better. But remember fertility isn't linear and doesn't necessarily just drop off a cliff tomorrow.
I feel like your embryos are clearly good quality, I was encouraged to move to DE aged 43 but mainly because I wasn't making blastocyst.
Not sure if any of that helps but happy to help if you want any more info on DE x
Thank you this is so helpful, I hadn’t thought about my embryo not getting older. We have a much needed holiday coming up and I think that’ll give us the space to think about what we do next, but a break is definitely needed. X
Sorry to hear about your failed transfers. It’s so tough going through this - esp. 3 egg collections in 6 months. Like Daisy said, take a break if you need to. Have you considered testing your embryos? That way you’d have another indication of quality that might be useful when making a decision about donor eggs
Thank you for your reply. We did PGT testing first round and the tested embryos were abnormal. We decided not to test after that due to costs, and the mixed views on testing. But you’re right, we should think about it again if we do more ECs.
Hi! Have you looked into supplements? DHEA has greatly helped me with quality as I tested my testosterone and it was quite low.
Also q10 is recommended + multivitamins etc.
Take your much needed holiday first, some
Vitamin D is always good and you’ll be in a better place after to make some decisions ☀️
I am currently in Greece before my next and probably final IVF collection, popping vitamins and sunbathing and should probably stay off this forum when I think about it 😅
