Liver pain

Hi everyone. I have a question. My CAP score was 252 last year and is 221 this year. My liver stiffness was 6.8 and now 6.1.

I have pretty bad pain or should I say increased pain more this year than ever in the past. Right upper quadrant under my rib cage.

Just wasn’t sure if numbers look better why hurting more. My alt is elevated, but not much. I read that the stabbing pain means the disease is progressing, but all of my doctors say the liver doesn’t have pain. Confused.?!

I have had the same thing and I have decided that your liver is adjusting to it's new health. It can breath, it's not as stiff and it's healing. causing the pain. It just like a scab on your arm or somewhere. It itches as it heals, you scratch the scab off and it hurts as it heals. Just my theory.

Thanks for your thoughts. Nice to have people like me to try to understand better.

I’m not a physician but perhaps this is all pointing to gallbladder issues.

Thought that as well and had it checked.

I don't have a gallbladder and I have had it since losing weight as well.

I was always told the liver itself is not where the pain comes from, its the inflammation of the liver pressing or pushing against nerves etc around it that causes the discomfort/pain to happen.

It may very well be your liver is still inflamed? I would speak to your doctor/specialist about the pain in case it is something like what DCguy2023 has mentioned "your gallbladder" they may also suggest a ultrasound if your liver is inflamed.

Annoyingly there is too may different things that could be the cause and its just a waiting game to find out what....

Yes, your explanation is what I was told as well. Just with good results figured I wouldn’t have as much pain as I am. Will continue my health journey and work on what might be causing inflammation. Guess it’s just part of the journey with this disease.

i believe so yes, I am same, having RUQ pain bloods came back without anything alarming and i have an ultrasound on Tuesday to see if anything separate that may be the cause.

Hope the pain eases for you 😊

hope your test results were good! I do not have gallbladder issues… I have a fatty luver diagnosis and suffer from right upper quadrant pain , also. It was steady until I regularly exercised and lost some weight. No significant fibrosis when my tests were done,, but I had allot of fat in my liver.
