I had a liver biopsy, my score is F3 S2 (NASH) I was told I don’t have cirrhosis yet. However, I have been getting spider veins on my legs and feel pain on my veins on the back of my legs up to my thighs. They are not bulging and the pain lasts for a couple of days and then it’s gone. I have been told that, this not not caused by the liver disease . I had low Alkaline Phosphatase and I was told that I don’t have portal hypertension but, that I do have portal inflammation. Is that the beginning of portal hypertension? Has anyone started with the portal inflammation then it turned to the hypertension?

Since my initial diagnosis of F-4 cirrhosis (Liver Elastography) have followed the liver friendly diet- that I got from this forum , plus intermittent fasting 16:8 and exercise 30 minutes most days. I am down over 30 lbs, no longer have sleep apnea, Acid reflux, my AIC is down to 5.3 from 6.2 my blood pressure is almost normal but not above 139/80 . I’m doing everything I can to slow it down and hopefully get back to normal. I don’t think that I’ve reduce the fatty liver with the diet but I believe the score was high due to my weight.

Any thoughts? Is this normal? I sometimes think that I’m overthink everything and causing myself to stress when I should be concentrating on healing.

I have spider veins and one varicose vein that is sometimes a little painfull. I went to a vein specialist but everything checked out okay and it was never associated with my liver. My hepotoligist does check my chest and face for broken veins which I have none. My mother's legs were totally covered with spider veins but she was told it was from years of standing while teaching. I cannot answer your question about portal hypertension, I have not had it. An ultrasound can show if your liver inflammation has reduced but it sounds like you are doing everything right. Your numbers look good and if your liver enzymes are reading good, keep it up you are going in the right direction. You will hear from others who might be able to answer this question soon. Good luck, Deb

Keep doing what you’re doing. You’re doing everything right. Unless you’re elastography was over read your most recent biopsy shows improvement in your liver histology. You should be celebrating.

I feel great most of the time, except when I get the pain on the back of my legs and since I don’t have an explanation I keep thinking it’s a new disease. I do have a CT Scan scheduled next month for my lower extremities. I’m hoping they can give an explanation. Thank you for your positive feedback.
