I was researching the Keto diet earlier, more out of interest than anything.
I read 2 articles which essentially said that a Keto diet can cause/worsen NASH because of the high fat nature of a Keto diet, and I also read 2 articles which essentially said a Keto diet can prevent/treat NASH because the fats are healthy fats and carbs are the biggest problem for NASH.
There's a lot of conflicting information out there.
What are people's thoughts?

Well I have been on low carb diet, I only get 30 carbs & 89grms of fat,134grms of protein. I have reversed my fatty liver and some of my fibrosis. My liver drs feel that this is my best diet for my condition plus have had diabetes for 35 yrs and need to loose weight, So unlimited fat is not good for me!!
Yes I agree with kensimmons, any time I give my opinion or my own lifes experiences, everyone is different!! All diets are different for everyone . Thankyou
I have been dealing with this for 22 years and had many ideas for a diet. I have had 3 different drs because of retirement and they have all said stay away from the Keto diet. I was on an Optavia diet and I lost to fast and they asked me to stop. I like the Optavia because it fit my lifestyle. Go at it slow, cut the carbs and walk a lot and you will see progress. I was 283 when diagnosed in 2001. I'm now at 200. It's been a yo yo of 20 pounds for years. Down 40 up 20. My goal is 160. I'm 67 years old now. I only eat red meat once a month if that. Sometimes you just want a hamburger, but I only do it if I have not had stress or I don't forsee stress. Keep stress out of your life.
Just like many other controversial issues, such as statins and milk thistle, I have learned it becomes a decision you have to make for yourself. My primary physician and hepatologist often have different opinions which only adds to the confusion. After researching both the keto and Mediterranean way of eating, I have chosen my way, which I call "keep it simple". Nothing white, no carbs, good fats. The keto diet scares me and I'm too picky of an eater for the Mediterranean diet. I guess what I'm saying is, you have to go with your gut...no pun intended! LOL 😂
I follow a Mediterranean diet - no white flour, sugar or white potatoes, no simple carbs and processed foods. I do eat complex carbs because you need them for energy and fiber. I eat buffalo, chicken and at least two fish meals a week. I make sure I have olive oil and coffee everyday. I also eat vegetarian. I’ll occasionally use stevia as a sweetener and limit my salt intake. For weight loss and maintenance I fast using an 8 hour eating window and fast for 16 hrs. I prefer to eat at home where we can control the quality but on occasion we do eat out. I’ve lost 40 lbs and reversed my fatty liver although I still have liver scarring.
Some complex carbs examples but I limit starchy vegetables like corn & salty pickles
