cirrhosis nafld
Sorry but your question is a bit vague. Re: bloody noses and liver cirrhosis.
Due to the way it all works - IF you have cirrhosis or your liver is severely impaired or damaged blood can not flow through it as intended. The body will re-route blood flow around the liver as much as is possible if the blood can not flow through it. This results in increased portal vein hypertension as blood is sequestered in the spleen, which as a result expands. This can lead to severely damaged blood cells, thrombocytopenia and some very real and severe related portal hypertension issues - with the real life visible results being increased bleeding and bruising including more frequent bloody noses.
However; it could also mean you just have sinus issues. Please check with a medical professional ✌️
thank you. I do have stage 4 cirrhosis. And I do have an appt with my liver specialist.
Hi Unie
Sorry you have it but glad you are getting help. One common problem with cirrhosis is a lowered platelet count which makes it easier to bleed in general and some people do have fragile veins in their nose. Your blood tests should have that platelet information.
Nash 2, what would be considered a low platelet count?
my prothrombin is up
my platelets are fine as are all my liver tests which show I am in great shape. It is just that darn fibro scan that says I have stage four cirrhosis
About clotting there is also INR parameter. Often is above 1.2 when you have F3-F4.
mine is 1.1, on edge. Prothrombin is high
Normal range is 0.8-1.2. INR (international normalized ratio) is the same in all labs. So do not look at prothrombin time which can be different amongst labs.
"A prothrombin time (PT) test measures how long it takes for a clot to form in a blood sample. An INR (international normalized ratio) is a type of calculation based on PT test results"
Ask your doctor about this.
thank you
