Bile backing up because of some issue with the drainage system, which includes the gallbladder, is a disease process and can cause damage that is picked up by the scan. The machine measures stiffness so anything that causes inflammation can cause higher readings and is one of the complexities of diagnosis.

So if I understand even being bloated could effect it?

If it increases abdominal pressure that could show up as stiffness
