Has anyone experienced pulsatile tinnitus? You actually hear your heartbeat in your ear(s.) For me, it sounds like some one stomping in snow. It’s very different than tinnitus & not technically tinnitus.
Just curious. I’ve had this 5 years. One possible explain is fibromuscular dysplasia (FMD) of carotid arteries…

I have it at times late at night when I can't sleep. When everything is quiet I hear my pulse. sometimes soothing sometimes annoying. I attribute it to blood flow moving the tiny hairs in the inner ear slightly. Haven't actually noticed it much since I got my blood pressure down.

Yes, and I think you're right that it has something to do with the carotid arteries. I get it when I'm lying in bed and it's like a wooshy beat.Wayne, I have high blood pressure so hopefully when I get that down I'll be free of it.
