Hi everyone. New here. I've scanned through some posts and besides the upper right quadrant pain, I've yet to come across anyone who has my issue. I have 3 localized tender areas (One is the upper right quadrant, one is kind of below the rib cage, and one is on the very low righter side.) They're tender to the touch and I feel it more if I'm sitting for too long or bending over. When I'm working out or playing basketball I don't feel it. More so when things calm down. Also kinda feel it throughout the day randomly. Doc says it's probably a muscle strain but doesn't really investigate it. *Eye roll* I don't know what -stage I'm at, but does it make a difference if I did? Specific diet and exercise is basically all you can do for either stage, no?
But my question(s) is does anyone else feel localized pain tender to the touch or is it just a vague pain? Also, how did everyone's pain start and how did it progress throughout your own journey?

Right upper quadrant pain is common but everyone is different in which organs develop pain. Gastro discomfort is common but without a real diagnosis you can't just assume it is liver related. You didn't indicate that you were diagnosed with liver disease so that is a first step
Sorry about that. I was diagnosed with Fatty Liver disease, but wasn't told about which stage I'm at. Don't think my doctor is aware that there are stages. I try telling her I want to see a liver specialist but for some reason she keeps declining my request. She's the only doctor with decent credibility in my area that will take patients with no insurance. And only a primary doctor can refer me to a specialist. So I'm left to look around for answers until she agrees to a referral or I get insurance (which I'm working on already)
That's not good ! Demand and threaten to get a lawyer if they do not send you to a specialist immediately! Fatty liver can progress extremely fast! I went from stage 2 fibrosis to stage 3 in less than 4 months! Stage 4 is cirrhosis, that's transplant talk, cancer talk. Wtf is wrong with your doctor!? You need to know what stage you are, you need a fibro scan immediately. Fatty liver is no joke. And not something to play with. A li er doctor wont charge you, I'm poor, my dr didnt charge me nothing, I ended up getting medical assistance bc of my disability liver disease. That's crazy that the dr is refusing to send you to a specialist! Fight, dont just give up their doctors not God. They dont make the rules, this is your life you deserve to live.
Ask to see a gastroenterologist. Progression can happen very quickly. If she refuses ask her to view this website. If you need for her to refer you than you must have some kind of insurance.
I have the same pain constantly. My doctor said it is my live. I have stage 3 liver fibrosis. But the pain is what made me go to the er where I found out I had liver disease. It hurts all the time. Everyone is different, but this pain is a side effect by what my doctor told me. Some days it is so bad I miss work bc laying is the only way to relieve it. Some days it's just tender but tolerable. Being a female my bra actually runs on the spot by my ribs which makes it that much worse. If I've retained to much water that day which is also a side effect my pants will be tight and that will make the pain worse. It all depends on the day. But it hurts and is very uncomfortable. Oh and theres nothing to relieve the pain, I take naproxen from Walmart, that helps a little. But dont take it often. Good luck.
I have similar pain. Sound like in the exact same areas. Not as tender to touch but definitely when I am sitting or bent over. I have been diagnosed NASH with some fibrosis. My doctors haven’t been terribly helpful and the Hepatologist I went to basically shrugged me off by telling me that I’ll have more problems in the future and there’s nothing he can do about it.
My attitude is to keep your head up and do what you can for yourself. Eat very well and exercise as much as you can. I’m determined to see if I can get this constant pain to go away. I hope you can do it too.
