I’m 72 and was recently diagnosed with NASH at level 3. The GI doctor is not sure why but thinks it possibly was drug induced when I took a high powered antibiotic and statin meds but she also thought it could be an autoimmune response since I have several autoimmune conditions. I need to lose 15 lbs but am finding it difficult because I can’t exercise because I need a knee replacement. I’m scheduled to have the replacement in 2 months but am worried about the pain meds and anesthesia and I’m sure there will be antibiotics too. Has anyone had replacement surgery?

Worried about impending surgery
I had a left total knee replacement 3 years ago and did very well. I haad no issues with anesthesia. Took pain meds very sparingly. I hydrated well. Did great.
Thx for the reply that’s comforting to know. My GI doc said do the replacement now because you don’t know what the future holds. I agree but what a don’t want to happen is a new knee and then have to have a liver replacement because of meds. I’ve already had one knee done so I’m aware of what’s involved although that was 15 years ago and they say it’s less invasive now because of robotics and so the pain is a bit less too.
I was in stage 4 and have been for years when I had my 3 surgerys, Back in Feb. 2015and Hips in Feb and April 2016 It was rough because the meds. I didn't ask for meds that did not go through the liver. They have those. I was in the ER twice because I thought my heart was giving out due to the liver shutting down. If you get the right meds you will be fine. I'm fine.. I've had NASH for 20 years and still ticking.
I just had a robotic hip replacement 3 weeks ago, never took one pain pill, had Direct Superior Method, didnt cut any muscle and I was walking the next day. No pain, no problem.
Thx Maxy6, Alterity & Sadysue - I’ve decided to forego knee replacement for now and see if PT and possibly stem cells therapy will help the knee if not I will reconsidered surgery over the next Year.
