What are the symptom of fatty liver.

I am overweight, I have gerd and take meds for that, I have high cholesterol and take meds for that, I have arthritis I take Tylenol because I don't like pain meds. It's kind of scarey hearing the stories of Tylenol in some of the posts.

Hi judy, im pretty new to this fatty liver malarkey myself but my symptoms personally are severe fatigue and sometimes dark urine. I dont get any pain, some people do. Ive tried to cut my paracetamol use right down, it is scary some off the things you read about it on here.

Hi Judy,

My worst symptom is bloating. I have been asked if I am pregnant which is a complement with this old face:-) when my liver was massive, I had pain and a popping sensation but this dissipated when the liver reduced in size. No doctor could tell me what I was experiencing, nor did they do anything about the "massive liver" incidentally noted on a lung CT. I guess there is a paucity of knowledge among some doctors concerning liver disease?

Fatigue is another debilitating symptom, however, this could also be attributed to my heart/lung disease. This can be a real problem if you have multiple conditions, symptoms overlapp and most of the time no one can tell you what's causing what. For this reason, I find it difficult to pinpoint which symptoms belong to which illness. You too have a few other illnessess to contend with so maybe start by writing down all of your symptoms then dicuss the list with your GP? I hope this suggestion helps you.

It is a genetic liver/lung disease, there are treatments available. It's an antitrypsin deficiency.

Carrie123 I have alpha one or AATD there are no treatments for the liver, and replacement therapy is only available in some Countries for the LUNGS ..UK is not one of them, also the replacement therapy is only in reality effective on mild to moderate emphysema not the severe...so yes there is a treatment but certainly not for the liver..and if there is let us know!

The ascites in my abdomen which is most always worse at night and it comes with pain as well. The overwhelming exhaustion, hair falling out like crazy, looking like I have aged a ton in the past two years, muscle wasting and memory and concentration problems that have caused me to stop driving. I have my liver ct scan today with contrast. Cant wait for the results! On diuretics and a high protein, low sodium and low potassium diet with 30min walks daily is helping quite a bit. This is so scary especially when it is hard to breathe from the ascites and the not knowing how bad my liver actually is right now. I know that ascites is a very bad sign but Im not jaundice yet nor do I have swollen ankles and some of my liver tests are ok.
