What meds to reduce blood pressure are safe for the liver?

I was prescribed Valsartan (Diovan), but information online indicates it might be dangerous for the liver.

Can anyone give me examples of other meds that can be used so I can talk to my GP about them?

You have to check with your GP. I can only tell you my experience that I was taking ramipril and the liver ezymes ALT grew 2x, in other people nothing happens. The best is caution, you can ask your GP to do a blood test with liver functions a month later.

My doctor wanted to give me a beta blocker, but thanks to the fact that I have lost 20kg, they did a Holter test again and my hypertension is controlled without medication for now

you might consider this, losartan, but we aren't docs and there are a lot of considerations but it is something to discuss with your doc

I’ve been using atenolol 25 mg twice a day for years. No adverse effects. It’s a beta blocker

I discussed atenolol with my Electro-Cardiologist because I have a pacemaker and was concerned about the warnings He have me a very low dose along with hydoclorithyizide. He explained to me the Pharmaceutical Co has to put any side effect reported during test whether it caused it to happen or not. He felt the risk was very low compared to the damage to my entire body if I had a stroke. It really is up to your Dr to weigh the options based on your history, health issues and other prescriptions to come up with the safest option for you. You can also visit with a Pharmacist and gather information prior to taking. My Mom endured several large strokes and subsequent impairment because she refused to take something not natural- medication. She was so afraid of damaging some organ that she allowed herself greater injury.
