Are stevia and monk fruit okay substitutes for sugar when on a liver diet. I chew sugar free gum and put a half packet of monk fruit on my morning oatmeal.

Tldr: not a doctor but i think so and have been using them.

I am not a doctor or scientist, but the official data I have found is mixed. There are a lot of studies that have links between diet sodas and NAFLD.

That being said, there are a equal number of studies on stevia and monk fruit that have shown them as a low GI replacement for sugar. I replaced soda with sparkling water favored with Stevia, and started making my own keto cookies with stevia and monk fruit.

I think the diet soda studies don't look closely enough at the rest of the diets of participants. If i still eat a lot of sugar/carbs, and only cut soda, Im not really in that much of better shape.

Moderation is really the key. We like sweets and culturally we have pushed our diets in that direction but the body doesn't need them so it depends on how ill your liver is. If it has the capacity to handle some extra load no harm. If it is struggling to get by maybe be kinder.
