Am I losing weight too fast?

Since I changed my lifestyle, to reverse S3 NAFLD, on the 27th of Dec 2020 I have lost around 17 pounds (I was obese class 1 )! I did NOT do any crash diet. What I have done so far:

1- 100% sugar and sugary product cut

2- 100% fried food cut

3- 100% refined & white carb cut. Consuming only Brown rice, oat, whole grain bread.

4- 100% red & processed meat cut

5- Limited the daily calorie intake to 1650 only

6- Added lot of vegetables and occasionally fruits to my diet

7- Exercise (jogging and running) at least 4 times a week (each time 30-45 mins)

8- Added Salmon & Avocado and Extra Virgin Olive Oil

I never feel full anymore but I am also not starving and feel I have even more energy than before. However, I am bit worried that this is too fast weight loss and might not be safe! :(

Does anyone have any thoughts or have had similar experience?

Thanks for the support in advance.

Mir

Hi, I’m changing my diet too since December 2021. I have elevated liver enzymes for 3 months. My doctor sees no problem in it but I’m scared that I too have NAFLD. My eating habits used to be terrible sometimes even I’m slim. Do you have elevated enzymes too?

Yes, I have been diagnosed by fatty liver for few years. My liver enzymes has been slightly elevated as well.

Did you try any diet before? I mean trying to reverse it?

How long ago did you find out? Did it improved or progressed or just remained in the same level over the time?

Hi Mir

It is brilliant you have started on a journey to help your body.

When a person who is overweight starts a serious weight loss program the weight is likely to be greater at the beginning, it is important to consider what your weekly targets will be and try to aim for this once you have got into a healthy food and exercise lifestyle, losing somewhere in the region of 1 to 2 pounds a week is classed as acceptable.

Please remember muscle is very important and ensure you help your strength by including strength training.

Drink plenty of water, eat nutrient rich foods and get plenty of sleep. Stop alcohol. Cut out all refined carbohydrates, all processed foods, eat good protein and vegetables.

We love quinoa and have substituted this for any rice dishes we occasionally have. And eat plenty of fibre in oats either as a breakfast, toasted and sprinkled over foods, as well as seeds and pulses.

It is important to have a happy mix for you and your body. Wishing you a great journey and be proud of all of your achievements 😊

Great job! Sounds very very similar to what i've done. I started in late October and am down about 24lbs (from 199 to 175). Im a 6ft tall man so i was really overweight to begin with but just by following a strict, healthy diet and exercising 5 days/wk the lbs just shed off. I have more energy, sleeping better, no reflux, no more bloating, etc. This requires discipline but it becomes a way of life. I suspect it will get harder as the pandemic passes and we get back to life (ie going out to dinner, vacations etc). The diet in itself is something i feel i can stick to for the rest of my life. The only thing i really miss is my occasional glass of red wine, but i may allow myself 1 or 2 glasses a month (like going out to a nice restaurant, or to a friends house for dinner, etc..) I'll have to pick my spots! Keep doing the great job you are doing!

Doing AMAZING!! I had a very similar story. I ended up cutting weight so quickly that people were convinced I was depriving myself of calories or taken up adderol LOL I lost about 60 pounds in 10 months. Once I cut alcohol and took a liver diet seriously and fully embraced it, it's probably better than Adkins.

I guess a plus side of treating your liver to some love <3 :) :)

I'd like to note, I did this with the supervision of doctors (dietitian, liver doc and GP), so I'd ALWAYS say, why not ask a doctor...but love and support you!!

By the way, my doctor was initially shocked when I went back for my fibroscan 6 months later. You really can fix your liver, please keep it up!
