I had my fatty liver tests back today. Doc told me FIB result was 1.35 and has referred me to liver specialist to do a fibrascan, I imagine. Am very worried about this result.

It is a terribly worrying time and it is natural to feel very anxious. You will learn more once you see a specialist. Do you have someone to talk to. When I first was told the same I talked with one of the liver nurses from here. It really helped as i felt so uninformed and she was able to answer all my questions. Did the Dr explain your fib 4 result.

Thanks. My doc just said it was a bit higher than the norm. He never explaind FIB result

And that he would set up a referral to see liver specialist. I have no one to talk to and would only prefer to speak to a professional. Good idea! Thanks.

It is really quite low. 1.3 is usually taken to mean no further test required. Could be that you doc wants to check for some other reason but that says low probability of NASH but doesn't address NAFLD.

My doc said 1.35 not 1.3?

Sorry, 1.3 is the cutoff below which they won't even mention it to you. Your test at 1.35 is a very small amount above that. Hardly any difference at all but the protocol uses a 1.3 cutoff so your risk is low but more testing won't hurt.

OK thanks very much. I am worried. Do NASH sufferers feel full a lot of the time and is it because the stomach is enlarged or is it the liver. Thanks

lots of things can cause abdominal discomfort and people feel things very differently so it needs to be sorted out by a doctor. NASH is a pretty slow process so trying to be a little calmer will probably help while you get some additional testing done. Easy to say I know. It took me 4 years to get a diagnosis so it sounds like your doc is proactive.
