Liver Enzymes

How long did it take your liver enzymes to come down after you were told about your fatty liver ? I was told I had fatty liver about a month ago. Basically I was told I had to be tested for hep a,b,c and to redo all my labs again a few weeks later. To begin my labs were pretty high and then the dropped considerably, which I thought was good but then a nurse called me and told me because my enzymes were still elevated that I need to go for more testing. I have read in countless forums and YouTube that people’s liver enzymes take time to drop , why are they pushing more tests at this point. They did a ultrasound , the liver panel , hep tests, celiac and all the normal tests like bmp CBC etc.I have lost 25 pounds recently due to a diabetes diagnosis and I have my sugars in good control. My dr was shocked how fast I dropped my sugars, I’m feeling pretty defeated here and scared, can someone please tell me about these enzymes and that I am not the only one who didn’t have them drop instantly?

They are probably trying to figure out what stage you are in. Usually your Liver enzymes aren't that elevated unless your liver is not functioning correctly. I'm in stage 4 and mine aren't very elevated at all. Good luck.

Enzymes indicate how many liver cells are dying so they can change fairly quickly. That is why they are monitored. Many of us do quarterly blood work forever. Since you are newly diagnosed they are likely looking close to be sure they understand your situation which is good. A lot of us didn't see a doc again until something went wrong so think of it as good care and not necessarily something to fear.
