Hi I am Herman 7275 , not been here for awhile but thought I would tell all of my progress, I have been seeing a team from a bariactrics div. and I started a LCHF New Way of Life on March 12th. Since then I have lost 45lbs. they have taken 104 units of insulin away from me that I don't need, I am only eating 50 or less carbs a day, riding 7 miles a day on my bike and I feel alot better, well I feel fantastic, cholesteral is better than it has been in 35 years... I never thought this could happen to me at this stage in my life but it has and I can do it and I still have much more to loose and I will succeed !!!

Congratulations Herman. I know that it has not been easy and you should be very proud of your hard work. Since you are working with a team from a bariactric division did you have surgery and if so what type and how long ago?

No I was told that if I chose this new way of life and lost 125lbs through this instruction in a year I would not need any surgery, which I did not want to have a bariactric surgery. I am unable to have the new lapband type because I have barretts esphagus. I would have to have a more extensive surgery of removing 2/3's of my stomach and reattach bowel to bottom of stomach

Congratulations Herman,

I am following the same food plan and clean also (organics, grass fed meat)

Progress is slow but steady, 25 pound loss since Dec.2018.

High Insulin drives diseases so getting insulin levels checked is important.

Thanks for checking in.

They have taken 165 units of insulin away from me, which I never felt this could happen, just seem to want to give me more. Instead of 5 shots a day I take 40 units once a day. so there's always hope !!

Herman, I am so HAPPY for you & I celebrate with you. I had the gastric b-pass 20 years ago to save my life. I weighed 397# & my doctor basically told me that if I didn't get the weight off I would be dead in 6 months. Believe it or not the only thing wrong was having to take at least 5 pills to lower my blood pressure. Within 3 weeks of having the surgery I no longer needed any medication. It was still a challenge to lose the weight even with the surgery. You have to change you, in your thoughts, in your emotions and discover your "triggers). Whatever happens in your life DO NOT GIVE IN & GIVE UP ! You CAN DO THIS ! You are on the right track and sounds like you are doing the right things. Plus, sounds like you have a good doctor on your team ! Count me in as a member of your team ! I am in your cheering section. Remember....you are doing this for YOU !

GOD BLESS......

Thank you very much for all the kind words and the vote of confidence !! I am loosing alittle weight each day, they gave me a year to loose 125 lbs. with only eating 50 or less carbs a day...Since my last letter they have taken 61 more units of insulin away from me and I am doing very well to keep my blood sugar between 115 and 130 which I NEVER felt I would be that low everytime ever again.....

Well thankyou for all those good words, yes I won't give up, I am a very determined person and theres no reason why I can't keep this up, well I counted today and I only ate 23carbs today...I drank 102oz. of water, I rode 5.3 miles on my bike this morning, I burned 604 calories on my ride, plus .mowed 1 yard, I also have a pedometer app on my phone, and I walked 3705 steps today thats burning 221 calories not bad for a 66 yr old man huh !!!

Great news, Herman. Did you have gastric bypass? My liver is too stiff for surgery but working with a nutritionist to lose 125 lbs. You are an inspiration!

No to any surgery, did not want the bariactric surgery. Ask to loose 125lbs. in a year, I have a fatty liver and some fibrosis and some cirrohsis, but because of barretts esophagus I could not have the lap band surgery, I would have to have the surgery that they would remove 2/3's of stomach and reattach the bowel at the bottom, but did not want this at any time.

No I refused to have a gastric bypass, they said if I could loose 125 lbs in a year and follow their LC diet and exercised I could make definate changes in my body that could reduce and or reverse my situation. I am working with IU Medical Center in Indianapolis, Indiana..... For me it is working, I have never been able to loose this much weight for one thing but I have been a diabetic for 20 yrs. and until July of last year, I was giving myself 225 units of insulin a day and taking a diabetic pill once a day that the Veterans Administration said was in my best interests to take every day, which I had been for several years.... Now because of all of this I don't give myself any insulin and just was told Friday to stop the diabetic pill..... It works !!!! Check with them....

Ok I am seeing a nutritionist every 4 weeks and then I see and keep in contact within faxes and phone conversations with a NPN. Which is taking care of my diabetes and insulin. I am doing this through IU Medical Center in Carmel, Indiana.

Hi Herman, this is great news. Is there evidence now that you have reversed the fat and fibrosis in your liver?
