Just finished a EGD today (they got the other side at the same time LOL). Found three varcies they needed to band so I guess I was on a collision course with disaster. But came through it well ready to continue the fight.

Would you be kind enough to describe the symptoms of varcies?

I'm SO HAPPY for you that you were treated ahead of a collision! Way to go!

The sad news is that I had no noticable symptoms to tell me I had this issue

I am sorry I can't provide you with a list of signs but mine were noticed by a test I hope somebody on this issue did have syptoms that can help you further.

My hepatologist says that you only need to consider EGD and banding of varies if you have elevation in 3 blood tests: platelet count, albumin, and INR or bleeding time. Otherwise, no EGD. He also likes to use an MRE which is an MRI elastogram which measures the flexibility of the liver to determine the amount of scarring and fibrosis you have. He said an MRE is much more accurate in staging where you are in your liver disease...much better than a Fibro Scan and liver biopsy. Just some food for thought.
