As stated before, I have been a diabetic for 18 years and there were periods when I was in poor control. Therefore I am making the assumption that I have fatty liver even though my liver enzymes are normal. Since going to the FLF site, I have begun to incorporate 1 tablespoon of extra virgin olive oil into my diet each day (like medicine). I am already avoiding fructose etc. for my diabetes. Now my question: should I continue to use canola oil for cooking? What are the thoughts on canola oil and the liver? Any concerns or recommendations? Thank you.

The modern version of canola oil has a high percentage of omega 9 which is also the main oil in extra virgin olive oil so it is fine to use. The disadvantage is that it doesn't have the phytochemicals found in olive oil which give the olive the edge.
