I was diagnosed with non-alcoholic fatty liver about 2 1/2 yrs ago. I have not been to a doctor in 1 1\2 yrs . The last time I saw a doctor he said all my numbers were good based on the lab results. But I do know I don't feel good & feel very unhealthy. I sometimes have pain in my liver area & my blood glucose levels are sometimes high. I am somewhat on the obese side still not that bad. My body always aches. I am almost 57 yrs old but sometimes feel as if I am 80 ! I realize it is time to go back to see the doctor & have a physical. What should I tell the doctor so he/she takes me seriously & runs the appropriate tests ????

Hi Jay, did they not give you follow up appointments? Or regular check ups at all ..

We are all different even when we have the same diagnosis. I have cirrhosis and f4 end stage fibrosis. Mine was alcohol related but was told i now have fatty liver which is no good to a cirrhotic liver

Im.not overweight i dont drink or smoke but my downfall is chocolate and cakes 🤤. I have tried to stop but not working

I am just turned 56 last week, i get very tired yet suffer from insomnia. I ache but that's down to osteopenia in right hip with onset of osteoarthritis and i have 2 prolapse disc in my lower back.

I would definatley go back and have a complete health check

Hi Jay

If you can ask for a Fibroscan. Liver disease is often silent and blood tests don't tell you much until you start to get quite ill. Telling them you were diagnosed as fatty liver over 2 years ago should be enough information to warrant futher testing. If not you might seek a 2nd opinion from a specialist.

You described my situation to a tee. Dr. wants me to lose weight and exercise eeveryday. She doesn't understand that it takes 2 - 3 hours every morning for the pain in my legs and body to reduce so I can just walk normally. I am 54 and I find my 20 something Dr. doesn't understand. I want to be compliant but my body doesn't cooperate.Oh and I was diagnosed with fatty liver 2 years ago. Weight, diet, and meds I've been on for 30+ years. Now my 19 year old also has fatty liver. He's been on alot of the same meds since 4 years old. I could just cry. He also has autism, bipolar, ADHD and severe food allergies. His Medicaid card covers a specialist but my insurance does not. I also have mental health issues hence the med issue.
