Hi, if you have been diagnosed with fatty liver and / or NASH or steatohepatitis and are looking for food suggestions then it's a good idea to start reducing or avoiding a number of very refined food ingredients - usually the white ones. I follow a few simple rules to keep my diet balanced. Remember deliciousness is not always your friend! Another tip is to google good diets for diabetes, as the rules are the same.
You can reduce or cut out anything high in sugar, flour, white bread, white pasta, potatoes. Unfortunately that does includes french fries and pizza! But how about just having those once a week?
You can replace all of these with fresh colorful foods that contain lots of nutrients and fiber, but much less calories. These colorful ingredients include most salad items such as lettuce and spinach, fresh tomatoes, peppers.
If you always eat things with fiber you can't go far wrong, that includes peas and black beans.
Did you know that McDonalds has sugar in everything, even the actual burgers? Avoid fast food for 6 days a week, because you don't know what's in it.
So for protein go for simple unprocessed meats and fish such as chicken and salmon. The most important ingredient is activity! Make sure you are walking, swimming or working out at least 30 mins every day. Try not to spend too much time inactive on the couch. Hope that helps
