Most of us are trying to retain or increase muscle mass, or fat-free mass... and/or to lose weight. (I am at my target weight.)
This video states that you can only burn 30 calories of body fat per pound of body fat per 24 hours... I have not seen this anywhere else, and I had not heard of these gentlemen before, but it seems to make sense.
I burn 2,000 to 3,000 calories per day (according to my gizmo), and, according to the above, I can get less than 1,000 calories per day from my bodyfat. You can burn protein, but not all protein is muscle: Autophagy might be getting energy from loose skin etc.
How you fast depends on what you are trying to achieve... no calories for weight loss or no carbohydrate for diabetes etc. I think I might start having cream in my coffee when I am fasting?
