What a difference

This is what my foot looked like two years ago.

Looking back, it is difficult to remember all my medical conditions which have improved, largely through IF - so I made a list:

The bottom right photo is recent

Toenail fungus - bottom left

Athletes foot

Peripheral oedema

Peripheral cyanosis (blue foot disease) bottom right.

Gout - see picture top left

Varicose veins

Loose skin

Candida

Obesity

Colon polyp - could have become cancerous

Vascular Cognitive Impairment

Postural Hypotension

Atrial fibrillation

Bradycardia - cured mainly by pacemaker

Disability

What has IF done for you - or what do you hope it will do?

Well done.

I must admit I braced before clicking your post, and I am glad I was prepared. That looks bad. I wonder how it would be today if you had changed nothing? Were you diabetic at that time, or do you know your A1c then? More importantly, how does you foot look now?

I think I mostly got started before my body started falling apart, and my major ill-health marker can't be undone, so I am making sure it's not joined by any others.

Oh, yes, one effect it's had on me: I have posted a shirt-off selfie to share with strangers on the internet. I had been pretty sure my shirt-off selfie days were far behind me.

The gout was short-term after shellfish.

I still get peripheral cyanosis.

My HbA1c was 40 (pre-diabetic is 42).

Ah, right. I know nothing about gout.

Thanks for the answer.

Gout is inflammatory arthritis of the metatarsal to phalangeal joints.

Hi, all - I changed the picture. I have been trying to remember how to use photoshop, Illustrator and acrobat to save getting Pic Collage!

Thanks for the inspiring post :)

My migraines have gone from fortnightly and very debilitating to one I a year (when I lapsed my good practices)

Toenail fungus: The basic problem is, I think, circulation. I wear sandals in the Summer to prevent athletes' foot - but I have had it this winter. I think I have only had the toenail fungus about a year - it is getting better now - there is still damage on the right big toe (see bottom right picture) but I hope the fungus is dead. I hope for full recovery when I wear sandals in two months or so.

The doctor said it could not be gout - as I had it in both feet!

(I)F is good for inflammation in general and arthrisis in particular - so I hope your toe gets better soon. Longer fasts are better for autophagy, longevity, inflammation, etc.

Thanks for sharing, it looks much better than it did, thankfully.

I agree about the improvement in inflammation, I notice much less pain in my joints when combining lchf with fasting. The better I stick to things, the better my sore/stiff joints are, and vice versa.
