Heard that Diabetics are advised not to do fasting. Hence advise whether a person being diabetic and on medication can venture fasting.
Diabetic N Fasting: Heard that Diabetics... - Fasting and Furious
Diabetic N Fasting
Hi, gur1302 , Welcome.
Diabetes UK is monitoring Diabetics who fast... try this link:
5:2 Fasting Diet - Intermitent Fasting Diet - Diabetes UK
diabetes.co.uk/diet/5-2-int...
Many consultants are not up to speed with current research - or choose not to believe it... re reversing prediabetes see:
Hi gur1302, I think that S11m has given you some excellent advice including the link to diabetes UK's advice on diabetes and fasting.
So if you do try fasting do it safely with medical advice and keep a close eye on your blood levels.
And good luck and please do tell us how you get on.
Thanks
Hi, Hidden ... Was it you who said that some UK diabetes organisation ran a programme monitoring diabetics who fast?
Hi S11m, I posted this and there's a section on fasting and diabetes:
diabetes.org.uk/guide-to-di...
I know this isn't what you asked but it made me think and could be helpful.
I'm aware of the NHS 800 diet for reversing diabetes and pre diabetes:

Watch a very interesting video presentation by Dr Jason Fung on the subject:
Thanks, Praveen55 ... that is a great video... and it says you can get off diabetes medication by (Intermittent) Fasting.
Hi, Hidden ...
Now that we have an active post on diabetes - could you advocate this Fasting and Furious forum on the diabetes forums, with a link to this post?
I was hoping that we could have got some feedback re inflammation...
Hi gur1302,
i personally am a T2D, and started my intermittent fasting journey along with Keto/Carnivore about 7 weeks ago.
i was taking 12 tablets a day for my T2D and one or two other things, but i now take ZERO tablets at all and have lost a tonne of weight, gone down in waist size and my last diabetic bloods came back at 53. So i can confidently say it is working for me, but, that is not to say it will work for you or anyone else.
I would just say to not rush into the decision, do your research, talk to your DR, and if you should choose to fast, to do so safely and mindfully! the following link may be of some help/use to you:-

I wish you (and everyone else) all the best, whatever decision/s you may make.
